Once you have the coal ignited, what is your process for adding more w/out smothering?
Also, shouldn't there be an ash bed on the grated prior to igniting the coal as to now warp or damage the grates from the direct heat of the coal? I am using a Yukon Husky wood/coal combo.
With my Alaska Coal Stove I make a little pile on the grate. Make sure to have the normal amount of coal above the pile so when you do get the fire going and plug in your stove the mechanism that feeds the fire should take over. Although I am not familiar with your type of stove.
