What’s the best method for repotting an overgrown plant?
Depending on whether you want your plant to grow larger or not, if you want it to stay the same size, for instance if you have a ficus tree that you don't want to take over the house, simply remove the plant from the pot, take a sharp knife and slice an inch off around the entire root ball. Place it back in the same pot in which it was grown, fill in with new potting soil, and water until the water comes out of the bottom of the pot. If you want the plant to grow larger, put it in a larger pot, and fill in with potting soil. The plant will grow until the root ball touches the sides of the pot.
