What is the difference betweenregular paint and HD or high definition paint.
Valspar is advertising it's HD line of interior paint line again in my area. I am not sure what the difference between say, regular Valspar ultra white paint and HD Valspar paint other than the price. Unless the HD paint some how now has the same resolution as a flat screen television, I wonder how many levels of HD there are. It makes me want to question why I would need HD paint over a regular paint. I wonder how long it will be before there is a 3-D paint. The is already a 3-D electric razor.
Their answer: ""People tell us that what they want most in a paint is a product that hides the old color quickly and easily, and matches the color on the chip. Valspar Hi-DEF Advanced Color System™ delivers that and much more. It not only maximizes coverage, but also glides on effortlessly, giving a smooth, silky finish. The wide array of color options allow for easy, unlimited decorating opportunities with true, lasting colors." "
Translation: This is a typical market-kicker, just like a toothbrush with intelligent bristles or super-flexi-head. i.e. marketing. Nuff said. Once a marketed-feature of a product is well-worn, something NEW (anything!) is used to re-ignite a product differentiation. e.g. 'sunproof' 'teflon', thixotropic, one-coat.... the list is long.
