Is this a wild blackberry plant?

This is growing in a pot by my garden. I didn't plant it but I have blackberry and raspberry plants in my yard that I did plant. It looks like it could be a raspberry or blackberry plant but I can't tell. The stem has thorns and a purple color to it. It hasn't flowered yet.

It certainly looks like one.  Give it a chance to produce for you.  YUM!

Lucky you! They are hard to distinguish, but a raspberry's leaves are lighter underneath, almost a grayish white:)

The leaves are a grayish white underneath! I've been doing some research and I'm thinking it might be a Japanese wineberry

Could be! They sometimes show up as volunteers from bird droppings but aren't for sale in many nurseries. It's always fun to find out as they grow and produce fruit:)
