Hang a Picture - Fast and Easy

Updated on November 23, 2014

I'm all about doing things myself

and when I find a product that makes DIY that much easier, I'm going to tell everyone about it. After years of using the standard, reliable drywall anchors and screws to hang average or lightweight pictures in drywall, I was really excited when I discovered the ease in using these Hercules Hooks.

What is so special about this handy product?

If you have 10 seconds I'll tell you because that's the average length of time it took me to hang each of the items shown below in the photo gallery using just one of these super handy hooks for each picture. Want to know more?

  1. These Hercules Hooks are designed specifically to hang pictures, mirrors and items under 40 pounds on drywall.
  2. NO tools are needed. Not one!
  3. The Hercules Hook installs easily by hand. As the packaging states....Twist, Push, Turn and Done!
  4. The hole in the wall is very small. It is super easy to patch with a dab of wall spackling and a tiny bit of paint when/if you should need to reposition or remove wall art.

I've done DIY projects for years and I will say with confidence I will use these Hercules Hooks for items weighing 20 pounds or less which you will find in the average household covers 99% of the items hanging on a wall. Anything heavier than that, get out your stud finder.

Yes, you heard me right.....

I still recommend a stud finder, hammer and nail to hang heavier items. I will only recommend what I myself know to be true and a wall stud has never, ever failed me or any of my heavier art or mirrors.

For lighter items like what I've shown you in the picture gallery below.....using drywall anchor screws which do create a large hole in drywall is overkill now the Hercules Hooks are available. Do yourself a favor and pick up a package or two. The time and aggravation saved by using these innovative hooks is priceless!

Note: The new packaging has this disclaimer:

Use caution hanging heavy objects. The amount of weight that can be hung from an installed Hercules Hook depends importantly on the type and condition of the wall being used. For heavy objects (over 40 lbs.) use multiple hooks to distribute weight evenly. Intended for use on drywall only.

This is the original infomercial with Billy Mays that shows how great this product is! Now they are available on Amazon.com at a lower price.

Now that you've discovered this terrific and quick solution to hanging things on drywall, let's find some beautiful art objects to hang... I think either or all three of these would work perfectly in my home. What sort of items could you find to hang with your Hercules Hooks?

Head West Crystal Mosaic Rectangle Mirror, 23-1/2 by 29-1/2-Inch

At 11 pounds the Hercules Hook shouldn't have any problem with holding up this lovely mirror on my guest room wall. :)
