Lava Lamp Decor
The Lava Lamp is the IT decor in our house. We have three of them in our living room. They are so pretty all lit up. One is blue, sparkly and purple. We like to sit in the dark with the lights off and enjoy just those on. Actually my boyfriend is into them. I've never owned one before but I'd always wanted to get one. My grandma had one when I was younger in her house that I just loved. It was red. I'd just sit and watch the lava dance up inside of it.
The purple lava lamp is our latest one that we have. We were out shopping and there was a sale on them. Roy had been thinking about getting another one so when we seen the sale we thought it was a good time to pick one up. We had a hard time choosing between a purple and a green one. Both were spectacular looking. Purple won out. Although there was a really pretty pink that I wouldn't mine having; maybe he'll sneak it under the tree for Christmas. When we got home with the lava lamp we got it plugged in and waited for the wax to warm up and dance inside. One night I remember it looked like a cobra snake inside of it; like it was watching me. It kinda freaked me out but after the lava warmed up more it broke into bubbles. That was much better and not so scary looking. It's really fun to see how the lava takes shape inside the glass. We love them. There psychedelic!
It's neat that we both love these lamps because they are from the era of when we were born in the 1960's and 1970's.. In 1963 to be exact is when these lamps were invented by a British accountant named Edward Craven Walker. The idea to make a lava lamp came about when at pub he watched a homemade egg timer made out of a cocktail shaker filled with liquids bubbling on top a stove. Quite a interesting idea to get after watching that, huh? I'm glad he was creatively thinking and invented these awesome lava lamps. Like I said earlier, they are the IT decor in our home. There groovin baby!
More Groovy Lava Lamps
The first video will demonstrate on how the lava flows in the lamp once it is warmed up. The second video the lava is groovin to a funky song. The lava really doesn't go that fast but rather a neat video to a psychedelic song. I've never heard it before. The third video explains how the lamp actually works from bottom up. Its quite interesting if you ask me.
