Names of Flowers

Updated on April 7, 2011

Names of Flowers

I have been taking lots of pictures of flowers. Spring has brought so many pretty flowers to photograph, but in my picture taking I realize I do not know the names of quite a few flowers that I am finding. I am hoping that you can help me out. If you know the name of any flower you see here that has a comment section under it please put the name you think fits the flower.

Thanks for your help!

I'm in the UK and this is what I call Forsythia so I agree with Chris. :)

Definitely looks like forsythia to me. Now that I've begun going south for the winters, I get home about a day too late to see them in bloom in my yard. They are always the first to arrive - such a wonderful sight! :)

This one is a magnolia (too) as we have lots of pink colored ones in our city. They are just starting to bloom in Vancouver but not yet on the island.

Yup. looks like a pink Magnolia to me. Love them! I have to admit I don't have any because it looks like you have to rake twice for Magnolias. Fall leaf cleanup is more than enough for me. :D

Ooh - gorgeous! Yesterday (4/7/11) I was at Brookgreen Gardens just south of Murrels Inlet in South Carolina - and they have wonderful Magnolia trees - but they were not in bloom. Bummer! I'd love to see them in bloom...

I live in the Caribbean and there are some extraordinary Flowers about. I. too, have problems with names. There are times when two people would have different names for the same plant. Very confusing. I like your lens.

So many different varieties of magnolia, it would be hard to name.

Ooh! I love the coloring of this flower. I have pink, purple, and a yellow and red collection mix of longstem Tulips. It is a tulip, isn't it. :D

Plant names are one of my favourite subjects - this one looks like tulipa bakeri, possibly Lilac Wonder but could be any.

Could it be a type of anemone? It looks like the one in the top picture on Wikipedia. :)

Pansy or (if smaller) a Viola.

I vote for Pansies, too. I believe this color is what is called blue in the flower world.

It's harder for me to tell flowers in "close up" mode - sometimes I can "see" it this way, but other times, it totally escapes me! :)

I vote for viola, pansy is a viola as well, I couldn't identify which one though!

I thought that one of them is some kind of magnolia but I could not find my picture and tell you the full name. Also the lavender flower is a pansy isn't it? When I am shooting pictures like at the botanical gardens, I always snap a photo of the label with the name of it. I have also did a search on google and OMG that takes so much time. Regardless, beautiful photography!!

This was a wonderful idea and the flowers are gorgeous. I very much enjoyed this interactive lens. Your flower photography is beautiful, you should turn the above image collage into a poster if you haven't already!

Your lens made me happy. Blessed!

Love this Flower name guessing lens! Really needed this spring time boost after this never-ending winter. Especially liked seeing the Tulips since mine are just showing the green leaves so far, and will be a little longer in showing their true colors. Thanks so much. Lensrolling and favoriting.
