The Oxo Salad Spinner - Simplify Your Life
If you're like me, you might well let an entire refrigerator drawer of fresh produce go to waste unless you prepare the vegetables before hand. It's much easier to munch on a salad for lunch if it's already made. That's where the comes into play - you're about to meet the best friend you can have on your path to healthier eating. Oxo Salad Spinner
The Oxo Salad Spinner works by centrifugal force. You put in your clean, wet vegetables, use one hand to push down on the top black button and it sets off spinning the interior basket. All the water on the veggies gets spun off and trapped in the clear bowl below. I always drain the water from the bowl and rinse it out before replacing it as I use the salad spinner to hold a weeks worth of salad. Yes, salad will keep that long in this thing!
I bought this exact salad spinner (the proof is in the pudding....er, pictures below) from Bed, Bath & Beyond for $8 more than it is on Amazon.com. Regardless, I've used it almost every day so I always have some sort of salad variety in the fridge and ready to go.
I like the Oxo Salad Spinner for a few reasons. On is that the spinning mechanism (that black button on the top) locks in the down position so that the thing can easily be stored in the refrigerator. Some of the less expensive salad spinners can be a bit more clunky and difficult to store.
I also like the ease of cleaning this particular salad spinner - it's even dishwasher Anyway, the salad spinner is comprised of just 4 pieces which come apart quite easily. A swish in soapy water, a rinse, and it's good to go, awaiting the next salad refill.
So, if you're into salads like I am, you can't go wrong purchasing the Oxo Salad Spinner.
I'm not sure why one would need a stainless steel model unless one just wants it to match the appliances...
I'm a fan of these tongs to dish out salad.
