Pretty Throw Pillows

Updated on May 17, 2014

Decorative Accent Pillows

I don't know about you but I absolutely love pretty throw pillows! Decorative accent pillows are one of the simplest and least expensive ways to update or change the look of a room in your home, which I like to do often.

As the seasons change throughout the year, I find that I crave for my home to match my mood. Bright and sunny during the summer, warm and cozy in the fall. If I could afford to do it, you would probably find me redecorating my entire house three to four times a year.

Even on my small budget with a few small changes made to my décor - maybe some new art prints on the wall, a fresh duvet in my bedroom and by switching out my decorative accent pillows, my home feels instantly transformed. And this makes me happy.

I'm always on the hunt for great websites to calm my pretty throw pillow passion and today I want to share a few of my favorites.

Inhabit Living

Inhabit living is one of my favorite home décor websites not only because they have really creative and beautiful products but because they are also earth friendly and their products are made in the US.

I believe now more then ever with the current economy, Americans need to be more conscious about the things they buy - and really commit to trying to purchase more products that are made in the US. Inhabit Living makes that possible with almost irresistible pretty throw pillows that are also eco friendly and made with 100% post consumer waste.

Throw pillows out there in internet land can be found in a wide range of pricing - from $20 upwards to literally hundreds of dollars each, which if you are a pillow junkie on a budget, like I am - you may not be able to afford.

Inhabit Living's pillows fall at the low end of the price point, which in my mind is a bonus because not only are you getting an earth friendly pillow that's made in the US - you are getting it at a great price too.

The pillows on Inhabit start around $45 for a 18 x 18 square pillow cover. For a little bit more you can purchase the pillow with the insert and they offer their gorgeous designs in outdoor fabric as well.

They currently have around 200 pillows on their site. Most of them would work best with a modern décor. They also have some really beautiful monochromatic white and grey pillows that I am already centering my next bedroom update around.

You can check them out over at

Pretty Throw Pillows

Pretty Throw Pillows is another one of my favorite websites. Not only do they have a large selection of chevron throw pillows, monogram throw pillows, floral throw pillows and pillows for kids - they also promote quality products that are made in the US by the socially responsible company American Mojo.

American Mojo is a for profit company that strives to help single moms and their children by employing them, paying them higher then average wages, offering free child care and personal development programs. The company was started by three adult children who were raised by a single mom and they designed their business around helping others. I love that.

The pillow designs come from independent small business graphic designers and artists and are sold through the website Zazzle. Zazzle is a print on demand company which means that they are not making a bunch of products that may end up in our land fills one day if no one purchases them. I love that too.

With each purchase of a throw pillow from the site you are supporting US made products, helping single moms and their children on their way to a better life and supporting small business owners. Plus they have a huge selection and it seems to be growing every day.

They will also be happy to custom design a pillow for you at no additional charge if you have something specific in mind that you can't seem to find anywhere.

The pillows on the site are on the low end of the price scale, starting at about $30 for a square 16 x 16 pillow with pillow insert. They offer polyester or cotton fabric in the traditional square or lumbar design.

With a wide selection, great value and a business mission statement that helps others, they are a company I like to give my pillow business too as often as possible.

DENY Design

DENY Design in another awesome company who's artistic and unique throw pillows I have recently come across on my pretty throw pillow treasure hunts .

DENY products are created by talented independent artists. DENY is also an on demand printing company. Each product sold DENY pays these artists for their artwork. DENY also helps promote these artists and get their work in front of millions of people who may have never found them on their own.

DENY also uses a unique printing process which ensures that the beautiful colors on these pillows stay vibrant long after you purchase them.

Another aspect of the DENY Design pillows that I love is that they come in three sizes, the standard 16 x 16 and 18 x 18 square pillow. They also have oversized 26 x 26 throw pillows.

Large accent pillows are a great way to add interest and scale to your décor. They would be perfect in a cozy reading area, couch or on a bed.

One downside is that the DENY pillows are for indoor use only. I'm secretly hoping they'll expand and start making outdoor pillows one day soon.

Price wise, the pillows start around $40. They are often on sale so with a little diligence and patience you can often times find them at a reduce price.

These pillows are all so unique and really they make a great statement piece in any room of your home. DENY also sells duvet covers and shower curtains with these designs and yes, I've fallen in love with those too.

DENY products are sold in various places on the internet, like Amazon and on the DENY website. You can see more of these artistic throw pillows here.

Society6 is another independent artist focused company which allows artists to upload their designs to be printed on a variety of great products like t-shirts, phone cases, tote bags, coffee mugs and throw pillows!

Society6 offers both indoor and outdoor pillow covers which you can purchase with or without the pillow inserts. If you have some old pillows laying around and you want to give them a makeover on the cheap, Society6 can help make that happen. Starting at just $20 per pillow cover you can give your home a fresh new look for a very small investment.

The designs on Society6 tend to be more graphic and modern inspired. However, there are plenty of artists on the site that create beautiful patterns and customize in pillows just for children.

Due to my pillow obsession, I recently started designing some pillows for my children through the Society6 website. I started out doing this just for the kids but I found it was a really fun and creative process and I got hooked. It's really fun having some self made décor in my home too. In addition to making pillows for myself and as gifts, I've managed to sell my designs to others as well. (More money for pillow shopping!)

If you'd like to see what I've come up with you can visit my Society6 store Endless Summer.

If you are artistically inclined or would like to try designing your own custom pillow covers, check out the Society6 website and get started. The community over there is fantastic, everyone is very supportive and when hanging out there with thousands of artists, you can't help but get inspired!

My Pillow Designs

Decor Box

Last but not least, another pillow design company that I love is Décor Box. Décor Box makes these adorable whimsical linen pillow covers which are perfect for the home, especially for kids.

Not only are these pillow covers cute, colorful and linen (I love linen!) but they are a super great deal for budget minded pillow lovers.

The square 18 x 18 pillows covers are less then $20 each! I buy mine from Amazon because with Amazon's deals, I can usually score one of these for around $17.

The designs vary from colorful and whimsical, modern and graphic as well as all the trendy designs that are so popular right now like nautical theme, chevron pattern, bohemian and grumpy cat design.

The pillow below is the first Décor Box pillow I purchased for my daughter. It features a cute owl along with one of my favorite Emerson quotes - What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies with in us.

Nautical Decor Pillow

Nautical theme rooms are so popular these days and last summer I decided to give my casual living area a beach cottage nautical makeover.

I used two navy blue and white stripe pillows, a few ocean theme white texture pillows along with this anchor linen pillow. I really loved the way it turned out!

I've since then changed that room but I passed this pillow along to a friend who has a nautical nursery and it worked perfectly there as well.

Jungle Inspired Pillow

This is another one of my favorites.

I love the simplicity of this zebra animal design.

Cute enough for a kids room but would also work in as an animal black and white accent anywhere in your home.

Sharing Is Caring

If you've made it this far then I want to thank you for reading and allowing me to share these pretty throw pillows with you!
