Updated on June 7, 2011

When to replace - Samsung Refrigerator Filter

Replace your Samsung Refrigerator Filter every 6 months or every 500 gallons filtered.

All newer models of Samsung Refrigerators feature a filter replacement icon that will notify you when it is time for a replacement filter. When the icon turns orange, you know you are nearing time for a change. When it is red, its time for the change. It is not wise to continue using your Samsung water filtration system after the water filter signal has been activated, or after you see particulates in the water.

The replacement process for Samsung refrigerator filters is as easy as it gets, a simple turn to the left will loosen and release the cartridge the you can simply screw in the new Samsung filter cartridge. You know it is locked in when the appropriate symbols match up on the cartridge and filter holder on your Samsung Refrigerator.

If water pressure creates difficulty in removing the cartridge, simply remove your freezer shelves to provide more room to pull harder on the cartridge.

Your Samsung Refrigerator will most likely* accept one of three possible refrigerator filters:

  • HAFCU1Water Filter
  • HAFCNWater Filter
  • HAF-CINWater Filter

Direct from Samsung these filters cost between $39 -$49 , but at eBay or Amazon you can get the same product for around $20 less!

*older models may accept different filters which are also available below: confirm your model number in your user manual or on the actual filter
