Silver Bedspreads & Comforters

Updated on September 7, 2013

Decorating with Silver Bedding

These lovely silver bedding sets are the ideal way to transform a blah bedroom to the opulent retreat you've been longing for without breaking your decorating budget.

Using Silver Bedspreads and Comforters for your bedding choice is just plain smart. Silver is such a luxurious, high-tech, urban, Soho and ultra modern approach to replacing the banal beige of yesterday. And silver's metallic hue will define your space and command a second look without much help from busy~looking accessories.

Silver can be incorporated in so many color schemes in your bedroom: Silver and white, silver and black, silver and purple . . . well, you get the idea. Silver bedding is just the beginning new color scheme but can stand on its own as a strong element in your bedroom.

Scroll down for a look at the latest in sharp~edge decor including Silver Bedspreads and Comforters, silver accent pillows, sheet sets and cool decorating ideas you'll love. I promise!

I'm a stickler for saving money with everything I do ~ decorating included. Finding decor on a budget isn't hard as it's evidenced here with this black, silver and white comforter set. If you opt for silver window treatments, consider these I've featured here. They have the strong lines your space needs with an uber~cheap price tag. Success with decorating is a delicate balance of pattern and plain without over~doing your efforts. I like a 3:1 ratio: three plain pieces paired with one themed piece. This rule is especially true if you've patterned pieces like the chevron bedding shown below. Using too many patterned accessories will create a busy, cluttered look that's not at all the relaxing look you're after. Dizzying dots and 'lotsa' lines. Not good. Think less is more and you'll be successful.

The striking elements in this silver chevron bedding set idealize how patterns can make a space by defining your intended decor palette. The armchair above boasts a silver accent pillow which would lend to the bedding set shown as well as the overall look and feel of the space. Use accessories wisely by making each piece stand out as being unique, high~contrast, or otherwise visually stimulating. This zigzag pattern has energy aplenty, so using plainer accessories will work well to compliment ~ not compete. The drapes above are an ideal match for the plain and patterned silver bedding sets I've featured. The patterned panel is a voluntary element in the drapery set above. If you've a busy comforter set, I recommend opting out of using the busy panel and just hang the side pieces. Both window treatment sets have similar hues as the bedding, so they're easy on the eye and proffer a smooth transition from bed to window. When dressing your windows, keep in mind that you want a total look of unity without opposing forces. For large decor pieces like the bed and windows, go with a 1:1 ratio: busy bedding, plain window and vice versa.

Get the most out of your accessories by choosing highly~decorative pieces like the dazzling accent pillow covers above. I'm a fan of pillow covers ever since realizing that a full~on pillow of similar design would cost much more. Just cover an old pillow to save even more. These pillows really do 'win' in their function as accessory and promise to deliver the unique, high~energy spirit they're intended to. The bedding set featured here has the metallic look of steel beams, quite a SoHo, New York City vibe. A black club chair with a pillow above make an ideal pair in complementing the bedding. I suggest abstract wall art or NYC scene posters and prints for a sophisticated, racy look and feel to your bedroom. Make it your own!

Be mindful of the design in your decorative pieces; they all have their own 'accent' and lend flavor to your space. The rugs here will warm up bare, hard floors and add those all~important layers to your room. The low~pile patterned rug has a Hollywood Regency look with its sophisticated, gem~like shimmer while the silver shag will bring more texture to a bedding set like the one featured here. I'm partial to plain comforters, as I love the freedom they give when accessorizing. I'm thinking wild prints that dazzle, swirls, dots, stripes and whatever you fancy is fair game for the choosing. Go as spirited as you are! Or not.
