Slam! Is Not the Sound a Toilet Seat Should Make

Updated on August 25, 2018

How many times have you had to replace your toilet seat because it split after being just dropped into the closed position? I stopped counting on my side. Watching the small crack start and slowly work its way across. Looking at it and thinking “Pac-Man”. As a guy most of the time the seat is up so you don't worry about it pinching you. The wife on the other had...

Anyway the wife found this new toilet seat that was supposed to close gently and not slam close. She brought it home for me to install and there it sat next to the toilet. Its not a computer so I was not sure how to get this thing put into place. So I opened up the package and looked at the instructions. OK so they were on the back of the package and easy to understand. Overall I think I spent more time trying to get the old seat off then getting the new one on. Yes world I had to pull out the screwdriver and a wrench to get the old seat off. I think it took me longer to read the directions to actually get the new seat on. Overall less then 10 minutes to read the directions and instillation.

But wait there's more. We had to do a little renovation on the bathroom. New sink and a new toilet, yes a new water efficient one, were both part of that package. I did ask if we could keep the seat? He asked why, and I showed him. He wanted to know where we got it as he has daughters. Once again its word of mouth that helps promote a product. Or in this case a little hands on experience. And we both wondered why this had not been developed sooner?

Final disclaimer – The pictures used below were on the package but I took the easy way out and am using them from the Amazon web site that this product is based on.

If hearing about it and reading is not enough for you than just check out this video to add another one of your senses into the mix.

Blackspaniel1 - Thanks for the smile. I am very familiar with the alternate water bowl. Not in our house but in my parents house. Finally glad you liked the idea.

This is a great idea. And it must be closed. I can relate to having it closed so no one fails to see it is up, but it also keeps the spaniel, yes there is a real spaniel, from using the toilet as an alternate water bowl.

In some areas, new codes are requiring these kinds of seats in new construction. Now...a combination self closing/self cleaning/no slam seat would be especially cool...

I like the picture of the built in potty seat. That would make a nice baby shower gift!

@KimGiancaterino In the good / bad news we only have the one. This was a bit tricky when the one was getting some work done on it.

One funny thing about these silent toilet seats is if you get one, you will need them in EVERY bathroom. We learned this the hard way! slam slam slam
