Spell working and other religious and metaphysical uses for candles are on one end of a ceremonial spectrum. And on the other end of the spectrum, the simplistic symbolism of candles from time prehistoric, when the deep and the dark could be allieviated by a small candle.

I really do love candles. They are such a flicker of hope and daring. They are a little flicker of light during the deepest darkness. We all need some of that.

Candles can be used to set a tone or create an aura. Anytime you are angry, irritable, out of touch with the spiritual, light a candle. It may help you come back to yourself.

Light a candle for youself, then light one for one of your sources on the other side - whether it is a spirit guide, a guardian angel, or a loved one now dead.
