Wood Salad Bowls
My favorite wedding gift to give is a wooden salad bowl. I've tried to think of why I'm always drawn to them as a gift. I think there are many reasons, but over time these salad bowls have proven to be well received and appreciated. They are practical, used often, and the quality crafted ones last a lifetime. They are are also sculptural works of art. I can't think of any other gift that hits all of those marks.
This Nambe Butterfly Style Salad Bowl is one of my favorite designs. I love the light and dark grain of the acacia wood. This is a higher end wooden salad bowl, one I would give to close friends or family members. But there are less expensive quality wood salad bowls that make wonderful wedding gifts as well. I've featured a few more below that I've also chosen to give as gifts.
Wooden salad bowls become seasoned with use. They are easy to care for, and surprisingly to most people, they are actually naturally antibacterial. Technically they can go in the dishwasher, but they will remain beautiful if simply washed with warm to hot soapy water, rinsed and dried. If they start to look dry or dull, a light coat of mineral oil will restore their brilliance.
Since these wooden bowls have proven to be so popular as wedding gifts, I'll continue to give them. They will outlast most other gifts and at the same time will be used more often. Someone I gifted one to noticed that I hadn't yet bought one for myself. I'm now a proud owner of a beautifully designed wood salad bowl that I will treasure all the more because it was a gift from someone special.
