AVG 8 antivirus free review

AVG 8 antivirus free edition comes with lot of features when compared to AVG 7.5 free edition.

"AVG Free is available free of charge to home users for the life of the product. Rapid virus database updates are available for the lifetime of the product, thereby providing the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers. AVG Free is easy to use and will not slow your system down (low system resource requirements."

But the actual results are little different. This AVG requires minimum RAM of 256 MB.My system tend to slow down after I installed AVG 8 free edition.

The boot time increased.Overall the system slowed down.

Free version has no technical support, no server protection, limited languages and is for private and non-commercial use only.

Going for free version is the best option for an average home user. Its because the pro version comes with load of features and that will still slow down system.

I do appreciate its new scanning engine. It gives AVG good detection rate.

Also use a firewall .Comodo is a good firewall . It comes with free liscense for entire lifetime.

AVG is alright, personally I've used Avast wherever people decided they wanted to suck on Windows longer.
