Device Not Recognized
Why Am I Seeing 'Device Not Recognized'?
You're seeing this error because you do not have the proper drivers for the device installed on the system. This could be because you haven't installed the drivers yet, or it could be because you have corrupted drivers on your system. Either way, it's not the end of the world, unless you're receiving the error because of faulty hardware. Even then, replace the hardware and you're set.
If you're receiving this error due to some type of driver issue, there are a couple of ways to resolve the error that I'm going to cover on this page.
One way is very time consuming, but it's absolutely free. The other, makes your search easier, updates ALL of your drivers at the same time, and locates the missing drivers you have.
The other advantage to the second option is that you can use the utility to backup all of your drivers so that should you suffer some type of disaster, you can recover your drivers easily without hunting them all down.
Option #1, Updating Driver For Free
If you've just installed a device, or you at least know which device is giving you the "device not recognized" error, you can visit the manufacturers site and hunt down the driver.
If this is an older device, you may find this difficult to say the least. They tend to bury older device drivers deep in their site because they want you to purchase the latest device or product they have. You'll see the new devices and how much more they offer you.
I'm not trying to take anything away from the manufacturers. They're in business to make money. They do develop new and better things, but that's not what you want right now.
So, visit their website, find the support section and start digging.
You might also search your favorite search engine like Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Or use a search engine like GoodSearch and choose a charity to donate to for your searches. You might eventually stumble upon a site that has your specific drivers.
Option #2 - Automatic Driver Update Utilities
This is my personal favorite option.
This option does have a cost associated with it, but it's FREE to scan your system to see if you need any drivers updated. Download a driver update utility and scan your system. See if you even need drivers updated. Locate that driver to rid your computer of the "Device Not Recognized" error! If you like, once you've scanned, make your purchase.
You'll be able to update to the latest drivers every time you want to scan and check for them. You can backup your device drivers on demand each time you update them. Or even if you just feel like it. Be sure and take advantage of this feature. It's a royal pain to find drivers after re-installing your operating system. This makes it a few clicks away!
I hope you enjoyed this page. Vote if you did!
