Mens Thongs - Why Are They So Popular

Updated on November 4, 2008

Whilst very few men will ever admit to wearing a thong, an underground trend is growing. No long are thongs the domain of the homosexual male and caveman, this trend is spreading through the heterosexual middle aged guy (not just Peter Stringfellow) who goes out to the pub on a Friday night with his mates and takes in kids to the park on Saturday mornings.

So what has fuelled this increase in the demand for mens thongs? Well there are a few factor contributing. Firstly, men are more aware now then ever before about the need for good supportive mens underwear to ensure the health of their meat and veg, thongs are possibly the most supportive underwear style that you can buy.

Secondly, because they are minimal in material and waist band, they can be comfortable to wear if you are a little on the plump side. The waist band tends to sit lower and therefore fits under a beer belly quite comfortably (I know this is not an image you want in your mind, but it's true!). The alternative is to loose the beer belly.

They are also cool in summer, you don't get VPL through your trousers and when the call of nature prevails they are easily accessible!

Another fact which has seen a surge in the popularity of thongs is the growing number of women who buy them for their partners. This is possibly a very subtle hint that they would like to see their men in something sexier than there five year old M&S jersey boxers, or it could be that they are just tired of buying them socks and ties for Christmas, but whatever the reason, sales to women of mens thongs are on the increase.

However, for women it is important to know what the best size is and to follow agood mens underwear fitting guide.

If you mention the word mens thong to a lot of people, they automatically assume that they are something sleazy, worn by gay men and made of strange leatherette materials, but this couldn't be further from the truth. Thongs are available in a wide variety of materials, colours and cuts, so open your mind and give one a go - you never know you might just like it!

I am married 33 and my wife likes me in thongs. I wear them often but rotate different styles of underwear daily. If they are on the rotation I'll wear them to the gym. I don't troll the locker room and I don't think anybody cares.

Im 25, and I discovered mens thongs when I was 16 at a store. I decided to buy one. Today I alternate between thongs and briefs. I wear thongs to the gym, under my suit pants, or dress/casual pants. With jeans I prefer briefs. My gf knows and likes it, however a previous gf did not. Its a matter of taste, and NO wearing thongs does not make you gay or mean you are gay. Time to move on from prehistoric american views on masculinity.

Love thongs. not girly panties but male thongs. they have so many quality, comfortable brands, and colors now its great. I love clever thongs, ck, and N2N. I wish they were more socially acceptable but I certainly feel they will be very soon! Hopefully Hollywood can promote the male thong and get it trendy. Well... at least for fit guys

I'm 34 and started wearing thongs when I was about 20. I didn't wear them all the time until I met my wife seven years ago as I used to wear boxers most of the time and wore a thong probably about two days a week.

She suggested that I wear a thong all the time as she thought I looked better in a thong. I was happy to make the switch as I always preferred a thong anyway but thought that she would prefer me in boxers as my previous girlfriends had. My wife is a g-string wearer herself and hasn't worn anything else for years.

So I stocked up on thongs and g-strings and haven't looked back.

Nothing matches a g-string for comfort, support and sexiness.

I mix it up by wearing briefs, boxers, trunks and thongs. I don't see a problem with wearing them. I'm engaged to be married and my fiancée likes that I wear them. So I not only wear them for the bedroom but also for the gym. Don't care what other guys think in the locker room but have caught a few staring. I do only wear the more supportive type. Not a fan of g-strings.

I am a 27y male and THONGS/G-STings are my choise of underwear & by far the most comfortable underwear i have worn (tried them all).

As for the beer gut theory i dnt think that stands much merit as i am athleticly built & find them comfy to work out in, play sports in, go to work in & most of all as you say supportive & cool in the warmer weather but still good in the cooler too.

My wife loves me in thongs/g-strings & she doesn't like me wearing anything else. gives great tan lines to.

Have had lots of ladies interestd in seeing me in my thongs & think it looks very sexy. The smaller the string the more comfy I find.

Visit for the best fit & most importantly comfy as they are made for MEN.

& to u prudes out there try before you speak you may just be converted & you don't have to be gay to wear.
