Protein is an important nutrient needed by everyone on a daily basis. Protein is made up of essential and non-essential amino acids, which are the "building blocks" for healthy bodies. Protein has a number of different roles in the body including, repair body cells, build and repair muscles and bones, provide a saurce of energy, and control many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism.

The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein needs very by person depending upon age, weight, sex, activity level and overall health.

Protein Drink is a delicious and nutritious way of increasing your daily in take of protein, making sure you get all of the essential amino acids into your body daily and helping maintain your immune system at peak working order.

You can make your own Protein Drink using protein powder and any number combinations, juices,orange or grape to arrive at a flavor they like. Still others use it in a fruit smoothie type of drink, mixing the protein powder with bananas, peaches, blueberries and other fruits plus milk or water or yogurt, producing a thick, sweet mixture that fills the stomach, remove that hungry feeling satisfies the bodies need for amino acids and tastes good.

1/4 cup(60 ml) vanilla frozen yogurt or ice cream

1 cup(250 ml) milk

1/4 ripe medium-size banana,peeled and sliced

2 pecans, broken

1 tbsp(5 ml) raw or toasted wheat germ

1 tbsp(15 ml) protein powder


1. Place frozen yogurt or ice cream, milk, banana, pecans, wheat germ, and protein powder in a blender jar or a smoothie maker.

2. Cover and blend vigorously untill thoroughly combind or to desired consistency.

3. Serve and enjoy!
