Proud Heart

Updated on February 4, 2009

Proud Heart

“The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this, they will not go unpunished.”

                                                                         Proverbs  16:5

Proud heart is one thing that God highly detests. What is the meaning of proud heart ? What characterizes the heart of  a proud man ?

The man of proud heart thinks highly of himself and always desires the best  things for himself, The man of proud heart esteems highly of himself, that if treated unfairly will suddenly erupt into violent reaction. The man of proud heart boasts about his achievements  and accomplishments in life. The man of proud heart always wanted to be clothed with prestige and honor. The man of proud heart despises the discipline of the Almighty. The man of proud heart always desire glory for himself, always wanting to achieve the top of everything.

He could be found everywhere, in slums, in plush villages, in your neighborhood, in your office, even inside your church and who knows it could even be you.

Living Testimony

One in my ugly past, I am a woman of proud heart. I always desired the best things for myself. The best school, the best career, the best man. After I graduated from college, I wanted to be employed in one of the top 100 corporations of the country. In vain, I worked out my employment in any of those prestigious corporations of Makati ( The business capital of the Philippines). I drafted a career path for myself. I planned  my steps to the corporate ladder. But everything was turned out to be in vain. I never got employed in any of those prestigious corporations. I ended as jobless for many months because of my pride,

God truly humbled me. One thing I am very thankful and gracious is about God’s love for me. He loves me that much that He disciplined me and did not let me go astray from His ways, which is the ways to humility. He did not allow me to achieve success and be proud, but He humbled me, I am not trying to say that I am already a humble person now, I believe I am still very much under the humbling process of God and I believe it is a lifetime process. Truly the ways of the King is the ways of humility.

      Cristina,

Very good.  Pride seems to be bound up in our hearts.  Someone said if I could work and make myself humble, then I would be proud of what I did.  Thank God, He will humble us and He knows how to do it.

I agree with you, it is a lifelong process. He’s still working on me.

      Thank you. ~ eddie
