Top 5 Comedies of 2008

Updated on December 23, 2008

2008 has been a good year for comedies. While there were some really funny ones, I have come up with my own personal top 5 funniest. Keep in mind this is only an opinion, but let me know if you agree with me. I will start with #5.

5. Pineapple Express

I, personally, think Seth Rogen is a genius. I think every movie he is either in or involved with in some way is hilarious. Superbad, Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin, just to name a few. Also, two thumbs up to James Franco. I've never seen him in any comedies but I think he did a superb job. Very funny.

4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Although he isn't the main character in this film, Jonah Hill (Superbad) is definitely one of the funniest young actors of our day. Producer Judd Apatow (another genius) sure knows how to produce a quality comedy.

3. Step Brothers

Another film co-produced by Judd Apatow, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are absolutely brilliant. Any comedy with either of these actors has to be good.

2. Role Models and The Promotion

I'm sorry, but it was too hard to decide between these two; so, I had to declare it a tie between these two extremely funny films. Seann William Scott starred in both of these films and I have to say he is absolutely hilarious. Not taking away anything from Paul Rudd or John C. Reilly, who are also two of my personal favorites.

1. Baby Mama

Yes, Baby Mama is my #1 funniest comedy of 2008. How can you resist putting any movie starring Tina Fey in the top spot : )... Seriously though, I think Tina Fey is truly talented in everything she does (Sarah Palin impersonations, 30 rock). She definitely deserves it.

So, there you have it - my top 5 comedies of 2008. If you don't agree, let me know your top 5.

(Notes: Judd Apatow produced #s 3,4 and 5. Although Tropic Thunder or Zack and Miri Makes A Porno didn't make my list, I think they were quite funny and they definitely would have been included if this was a top 7.)
