Wedding Favors - Music CDs

Updated on March 6, 2008

Make Your Own Favors

If you are looking for a great memory to send home with your guests, or even just your wedding party, consider making a music compilation with songs from the wedding.

These favors aren’t expensive to make, and are something your guests can use for years after the event. This idea is growing more and more popular, but every wedding creates a unique CD. You can memorialize your day with your music compilation.

The Costs

These favors truly do not cost much. You can buy packs of CDs for less than $10. You will also want to buy labels to put on the CDs, so that you can properly label them. The only other expense is the actual music. You can burn songs from CDs you already have, or purchase them from a website. You are basically making a mixed tape full of your wedding memories.

If you do an internet search, you will find that there are companies who will make these CDs for you. This is a great option if you don’t know how to burn your own CDs, or simply don’t have time to do it yourself.

Choosing the Songs

You can include the formal songs that will be played during your reception: the bride and groom’s first dance, the father-daughter dance, the wedding party dance. If you and your groom have favorite songs, you can include these on the CD. If you use an interesting piece of music during the ceremony, you can include this is the collection. I have a friend who is often asked to sing at wedding ceremonies—if you do something like this, you can try to add a recording of the friend singing to the compilation (you will have to plan this ahead of time). You could even use music from your bachelor and bachelorette parties. If you play funny songs during the reception, include these as well.

You can buy inexpensive CD holders, and insert a copy of the bride and groom or wedding location on the cover. Not only will it be a great memory for you in the years to come, but it will be a great gift to your guests.

Another Alternative

If you are attending the wedding, you might want to make one of these CDs as a gift to the bride and groom. This will be an amazing, memorable gift to give to a newly married couple. This will be easy to do if you are in the wedding party; but, if you aren’t, you should contact a family member or someone who is in the party to find out which songs you should use.
