What does it take to love life?

Updated on September 21, 2008

Loving life is a choice!

What it takes to love life is simply a choice. We can choose to look at all of the negative aspects of our circumstances in our lives and be miserable or we can choose to seek the positive in every situation and determine how we can react in a way to create the results we want.

If we will live an attitude of gratitude, we will easily be able to see more positive things in the circumstances in our lives. Bad things happen every day. It is not what happens that determines our happiness but the way that we react to it.

Once you begin to be grateful for everything, be it good or bad, you will find that happiness comes naturally. If you look for the positive in any situation rather than having a negative reaction to bad things you begin to see life in a whole new way. Consider the bad things that happen in life as a learning experience that is simply a stepping stone to get you to a better situation in your life.

I have lived through many trials in my life and when I look back I realize that everything that has happened in my life was simply a new path to get me where I needed to be. Divorce is an awful thing, yet, had I stayed in an unhealthy relationship, I would not have found and married my soulmate. My childhood illness was a 15 year torture, yet, if I had been healthy, I may not appreciate life as much as I do today. There are many stepping stones along life's path that we must endure. The key to loving and appreciating life and all of it's trials is simply a choice to be grateful for the experiences we have.

There are times when we face difficult situations and we seem to lose all hope. It is after these situations have passed that we can see how strong we really are and can then enjoy our lives.

Thanks for visiting, Rob! I most certainly agree! I believe people would begin to see the stress related illnesses plummet if they only would begin to have an attitude of gratitude! I am glad you enjoyed the hub!

By realizing all that we have in life is a gift, gratitude should be our attitude. Inspiring hub.

I second that agreement :o) I have to say a special thanks for the mention of divorce as I'm there and the word brings up so much, even when one thinks to the brighter side. I can tell you live by this advice and it's very reassuring! Thanks again :o)
