Freelance Writer for Hire

Updated on February 20, 2016

What is a Freelance Writer?

A freelance writer is someone who will write you something (usually a book, eBook, article or blog) for a fee. They don't exactly work for you as an employee but they do work for you for the time being. They are generally self-employed but this could lead to future permanent employment.

What good is a Freelance Writer?

Why should you spend your hard earned cash on someone to write you a book? Well for one, most freelance writers give you full ownership of what they wrote, and this allows you to claim that you wrote it. This allows you to not only show off to your friends, but sell copies to people online and in stores.

The number one use of hiring a freelance writer is for KDP, or Kindle Direct Publishing. This is a service that allows you to upload files which will then be converted into a Kindle eBook. Then, it will be placed on the Amazon marketplace for people to buy and you make royalties off of it.

Some people make $20,000-$540,000 a year! Just look up videos on YouTube and you will find several people talking all about it. Now, this hub isn't about KDP so much, so I won't get into it anymore, but this is the main reason why you should hire a freelance writer.

Additional reasons would be for nook publishing (like a worse version of KDP), for article publishing site, as well as other sites that you can make money from eBooks. Like stated with the KDP, eBooks are the number one reason people hire freelance writers.

How Much do they Cost?

So how much does it cost to hire a freelance writer? Well everyone has there price, most are one cent per word, some are $1 for 80 words, some do two words per penny. Everyone's differs. I for example work for $1 every 200 words. So if you wanted a short story that's 20,000 words, it'll cost $100. Most people only hire Freelancers for a maximum of $75 but some people I've seen have payed up to $160.

Is it Worth it?

So this leaves the question: is hiring a freelance writer worth it?

The simple answer is: yes.

Really it all depends on how much you're making. If you're struggling to get through in life then maybe it isn't for you yet, but if you make a decent amount of money, then consider this another thing to invest in. Even if you don't become a millionaire from it, most likely you will still make a profit. If you're an investor you know you need to take risks in life, so this should be one you find right up your alley.
