It is quite funny when people talk about making money they tend to by systematic about it. Meaning that they are system oriented when they think make money. They plan to get a Master’s Degree or a PHD and then land a high end job at an Enterprise organization and then cash in all the way to the bank. But I can tell you that not all companies have CEO's and top line executives, and when they do, it is usually just one person at the helm. But you don't have to be systematic about making money, if you have a skill or better yet, a talent, you could be making much more money than sitting around a desk punching keyboards. Let me also let you in on another money making secret. It is much easier to tap into your talent or skill and make money than landing a CEO Job and cashing in your big pay check. Why? Well remember a job is what you do and a talent or skill is what you are, something you are able to do naturally because you were gifted that way. When you do something you are naturally good at and love, you find that you don't go looking for the money, the money comes looking for you. Let us now look at how you can tap into your talent and skill and make money.

1. Perfect Your Skill

If you want people to pay for what you can do, you have to be able to do what you do very well if not perfect. Let us say that you have a God given gift for singing, but your drawback is your breathing and holding long notes. You can't go do an audition for a lead singer in Broadway without correcting the flaws in your talent. This is where consistent practice plays a huge role in perfecting your skill. Even the fastest man on Earth, Usain Bolt has to still continuously train and even do much more rigorous exercises to keep ahead of his game and maintain his winning streak. Simply put, you cannot bake one bread and call yourself a baker. You will have to train, practice and harness your talent to reach higher potential before you show it off. Perfecting your skill means continuous work, review and more work. The good thing about knowing when you are ready to showcase your talent is that not only will you feel it, others will too.

2. Seek Out Places Where Your Skill is Appreciated

Computer programmers don't go to rap battles and tell them about creating Artificial Intelligence Algorithms. They go to technological conferences to meet and speak with people who are interested into what they have to offer. One of the biggest mistakes people who are skillful and talented make is to actually hide their talent and not showcase it or showcase it to the wrong people. If you want to be found, you have to be seen. You have to always showcase what you can do, let people see what really is inside you so they can understand your full worth and potential. All this I am telling you is basically foot work of creating wealth. Once the right person finds you, then your road to property has just begun to get easier. But if you stay hidden with a great skill, that is it will be, a hidden skill.

3. Seek Real Gigs and Other Works

No matter what your skill or talent is, I guarantee that you can find a Gig for it somewhere. So if it is a poetry contest, ensure your poems are in. If it is a mechanic challenge, ensure your application gets in. If it is even singing in a bar, ensure that you go and get that experience and let real people get a taste of your talent. You can make money with your talent and skill by even creating your own product for sale. So let's say you are a top crochet artist and can design the heavens with your needle and thread. You can create various crochet items and display them for sale. If you are a singer, go volunteer to sing at the local church, get your talent out there. The more people see you and your work, the more your name gets carried around.

4. Create An effective Social Media Presence

Create a professional page exhibiting what ever skill or talent you have. If you are a singer, upload your music and videos for people to listen. If you are a Pastry chef, create breath taking recipes and provide mouthwatering images of real foods you have created. If you are a writer, create a web-page for yourself and exhibit your work. Use the power of the internet and social media to get your talent out to thousands or even millions of potential clients. Social media advertising is basically part of your electronic marketing. It is free, effective and if used wisely, very powerful.

5. Create a Good Brand For Yourself

Many people beleive that branding is difficult, but it is one of the easiest things to do and a very effective way for people to associate the quality of an object to a name. One of the best brand you can create and sell is brand "YOU". You are a brand. What you do and how you as a product operate will tell people the quality of your brand. Let me give you a typical example. You land gigs in a few clubs as lead singer for the night. Your show begins at 10:00PM each night. You show up at 11:00 pm or you just do not show up at all. You are beginning to attach a stigma to your Brand (you) that you are unreliable and simply bad for business. So when other persons ask about booking you for other events, word will get around that you are never onetime and many times a complete no show. You do not want negative stigma attach to brand "YOU." Especially when you are just trying to make it with your skill or talent. Your brand should be of resounding quality when people mention your name.

I must tell you, making money with your skill or talent is most time a challenging and riveting task. You have to be in it for the long haul. You will not experience recognition over night. It takes dedication and hard work to pull through no matter how talented or skilled you are. It takes consistency. But the good thing is once you make it then the rainbow is touchable. So never give up on what you can do with your natural abilities. When it is your time to shine, the sun rays will not miss you.

I like that the first suggestion is to perfect the's all about the craft, in my opinion. Fame may never come, but having mediocre skills is a recipe for mediocrity.

Hm, I have to do all that? Well I will have to procrastinate on this for a while.

This was useful and relevant for writers here. Much of what success requires is focus, self-promotion and being good st what you do.
