When it comes to managing finances, there really is no magic formula or easy fix. 

Managing one's finances takes dedication, hard work, and most of all, self-discipline. 

The tenets set forth here though, if followed, will give you some basic rules to follow and will teach you how to manage your finances from A to Z. 

The key to the success of this managing your finances plan though is you.....we all are in charge of our financial destiny and hard as it may seem sometimes, it's possible to achieve financial freedom and to indeed manage our finances.

Thoughts to Assist You in Managing Your Finances

These are not the only principles of sound money management but they do go to understanding finance, which is what managing your finances is all about.

Understanding where your money evaporates or realizing that you are in debt and why are all key to developing better spending habits and thus creating for yourself financial security.

Budgeting is the backbone of any financial plan

Debt is a reality but debt-free is a possibility

Evaluate NEED versus WANT on everything you buy

Frugal living is not the same as being cheap

Goals are worthwhile and achievable through hard work

Healthy finances start with self-discipline

Investments are merely tools but knowing how to use them essential

Just about everything goes on sale sometime....wait for it

Know your spending habits and never spend more than you earn

Live like you're broke and see how much you save without even missing it

Maximize your assets by learning to manage your finances

Negotiate anything to get a better rate or price

Overspending is a symptom; look for the cause and heal it

Pay down your credit cards and keep current on them every month

Quit things you rarely use like health clubs and subscriptions you never use

Refurbish, repair and recycle before you replace

Start saving for things you need instead of charging them

Take time to learn finance and how to be good at it

Understanding where you're going will help you achieve your goals

Value what you own by taking care of it - no matter what 'it' is

Wanting something does not mean you need it...know the difference

X+Y=Z; bad credit + debt = disaster;   good credit + no debt = success

You have to always pay yourself first because saving is essential
