What is Ibotta?

Simply put, Ibotta is a rewards program smartphone app for shopping that pays you cash for redeeming certain offers. Before you shop, you start the app, look for offers. For instance you might have orange juice on your shopping list. You find a certain brand in Ibotta that offers 75 cents. So, you buy that brand, then take a photo of the receipt with the app. Ibotta will credit your account the 75 cents. It has to ba at a participating store. The really good news as that, at least for now, it stacks with coupons. So, if you had a .75 cent coupon for Mio and Ibotta had a $1.00 offer, you would save in the end $1.75. even more if the coupon is doubled!

Where Ibotta is Accepted

Ibotta gives rewards for shopping at several retailers. They do add stores based off of popular demand, and the list changes, so check the site to find the current list.

  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Walgreens
  • CVS Pharmacy
  • RiteAid
  • Kroger
  • Safeway
  • Publix
  • Stop & Shop
  • Fred Meyer
  • King Soopers
  • Ralphs
  • H-E-B
  • Meijer
  • Vons
  • Duane Reade
  • Smith's
  • Fry's
  • Pick 'N Save
  • Dominicks
  • Pavilions
  • Tom Thumb
  • Dillons
  • ShopRite

Charity, Payouts, and Referrals

Once you have earned $5.00 in your Ibotta account, you can cash it out. They will send it to your Paypal account. Alternatively you can choose to donate your earnings/savings to charity as soon as you have $1.00 in your account. It can go to the United Way, or any school in America! How's that for giving back?

There is also an invite a friend program. You can invite as many friends as you like. When an invited friend completes their first offer you get $1.00. Even better for them is the fact that as a friend referral they get $5.00 on the completion of their first offer. So, just for signing up and doing one offer, they can get $5.00 in Paypal right away!

The Bottom Line

I have been hearing about Ibotta for a while. However, it was only available for iOS (Apple) devices. That changed today. Now it is available for Android users too. It now has a place on my phone and I cannot wait to shop with it. I am going grocery shopping between now and Friday, so I will try to report back.

As always, when I post a program that has some sort of sign up a friend system, I give you the option. You can sign up under me, for which I get a $1 and you get $5 when you complete your first offer. Or, you can go to the site, ibotta.com, install the app on your phone and sign up with no referral and no bonus dollars. Either way, you are given your own 'Share the love' referral link, so you can sign up others, through email, social media, or however you see fit. The one thing you cannot do is use multiple accounts on the same phone. This is to prevent you from signing up bogus accounts for the money.

So, while I would appreciate the money, if you are interested, you can do it either way. I won't be mad, I promise.
