Living Big

Updated on June 20, 2020

After 10 years of tiny living, I bought a duplex. Numerous trashings and only one tenant who actually paid the rent, I reclaimed my home.

Two Kitchens? Two Baths? Four Bedrooms? Why not? Turning a duplex into a single family home... for one.

My Bed For Years

Oh, look, there's a cat there.

I guess you can't really call it a home for one. Currently, I have 10 cats and 2 dogs.

Once Upon A Time...

I was a Professional Upholsterer. I never put covers on a sofa! Years later, after several dogs and what has seemed like hundreds of cats, and a beige couch, I became adept at covering that Thrift Store find of $46 and change.

Oh, Look...

Living LARGE, all right. Here I give you 12 photos of one corner of one room.

Sigh. This is gonna be a long story.

Would You Like To See The Opposite Wall?

I Call It The Keeping Room

I keep everything.

Living Tiny For 10 Years Limited Pictures...

The only art I had room to display was my charcoal pastel drawing of Kris Kristofferson I did in 1990, and one of 2 graduation portraits I ordered 11 X 14 enlargements of my daughter, Tanya, in 1988.

Just What You Needed - One More Picture of the Couch!

Oh, But... Look At The Wall Pictures!

This (couch wall) is the west wall. You see not only one of Tanya's graduation pictures, but both of them, as well as her wedding pictures from 2001. In developing my decorating style, I draped a black lace scarf between the graduation pictures.

In duplicating the scheme on the east wall, I found a similar black lace scarf and mixed my son, Tracy's, wedding pictures from 1995 amongst Kristofferson memorabilia, including my drawing, as the wall was longer.

My Signature Scarf Even Makes the (All White) Bedroom

From This...

To This. .....well, the colors are the same.

Setting Up A Guest Room

Will also be an Art Room and Library

I like the way this is set up. I now have added a glass and mirrored 2 shelf square coffee table with gold frame.

Also brought up a tall dresser that tucks into the corner just around the door. (Behind the floor lamp and curtain showing.)

Parlor And Writing Room

Better Picture of theParlor

I've rearranged this somewhat. I added some excersize equipment. Well, everything's gotta be somewhere. Ha, my rebounder was under my bed and never got pulled out to be used!

The Back Room will be a Workshop and Sewing Room

.

Bought A Piano! Where Do You Suppose I Put That?

The downstairs kitchen, of course.

I Guess You Can Say I've Done It All

I'm going to go ahead and publish this... but since it's an on-going project, I will be adding to it as I go along.

Did I say 'adding to it'? Well, here is my Happy Place project ongoing for 2 1/2 years...

Today's date... June 20. 2020

Tore out this section of wall in Keeping Room... to insulate and re-do. Decided to use boards rather than sheetrock, and finally got some lumber up YESTERDAY!
