Making Money on Poshmark

Financially things were a little tight but going outside of the home to work an additional job was simply not an option. One day I came across an advertisement for Poshmark and the rest is history.

At first I wasn't quite sure that I was a good salesperson. I did not like approaching people and asking them to buy anything! However, Poshmark was a way that I could open up a free account, add some pictures, descriptions, and price and off I was to making money from the comfort of my home, phone, or while waiting at my doctor's office!

We all have items in our closet that we have outgrown or have lost interest in. That is a great place to start selecting items to put in your Poshmark closet.

You also want to make sure the items are in great or good condition because you will want to be able to get the best price possible for your item. If you have an item that is in good condition but is missing a button, hem has come loose, or has a minor problem, you can still list the item but note in your description that the piece of clothing is flawed.

Also, some Poshers who have some sewing skills will make the repairs on their own before placing the item for sale. If you are not handy with a needle and thread, you will be surprised that these items can still find a home with a Poshmark shopper who doesn't mind having the item repaired themselves.

I started with some dresses that I could no longer fit but were in good condition, appealing, and items that I was no longer attached too. You should be sure to check clothing for stains, holes, and tears. If necessary, clean or wash your clothing before posting.

In choosing items you should keep in mind the people that will be more likely to purchase your items. This is the time you may decide to choose the "style" of your closet.

For example, do you buy clothes that are trendy, modern, casual, or business? This will usually dictate what Poshers will make constant visits to your closet. Although, some Poshers have closets that are eclectic and they fare well in what they sale.

As far as clothing items are concerned you can sell anything from scarves to pants.

The Poshmark app makes listing an item for sell very easy. An item can be listed through the following ways: on a laptop, desktop, and your mobile phone.

At the top right hand portion of the screen you will see the word SELL and simply tap it and the listing screen will open up.

You are now able to post eight pictures of the item that you want to sell. My advice is the more pictures, the better. You should take as many pictures as possible to give the prospective buyer a good idea of the condition, color, and style of your item.

What is most important in listing your item is good lighting! Make sure the light source that you are using is bright and clear.

You can either hang your item on a mannequin, on a hanger on a door, or do what is called a flat lay. When starting out most people do not have a mannequin, which is the preferred way, if you cannot fashion the item yourself, so that will either do the most popular method which is the flat lay.

Flat lays are frowned upon by the more experienced Poshmarkers because it does not give "life" to the item. It's flat! While the other options of fashioning the item or placing it on a mannequin gives a more realistic view of your item that will give your buyer a better idea of how the item may look on them.

Don't be in a hurry to list your items. Often when listing more than one item, you will find yourself leaving out valuable information like sizing, or writing in the wrong designer name, or entering an incorrect description.

Thorough descriptions will help your sell your item and keep you from having to answer basic questions about your item through the comment option.
