My Squidoo Experiment

Updated on November 14, 2012

The Squidoo Income Challenge: Week One

The first week of my Squidoo Income Challenge ended on October 7, 2012. It has been a very productive experience and it has motivated me to set a goal of 1000 lenses in the next 6 months. How close am I now? I am about to reach 200 lenses. Not bad when you consider that I started out with 84 lenses in August. I added 50 lenses in September. My goal was to add another 50 in October and I surpassed that goal. I am now at 192 lenses. I know what you're thinking. "That's great, but are you making any money?" I tried to take notes everyday, so I can share my results. Let's go over those stats.

How many Squidoo lenses were created?

On Oct. 1st I started out with 134 lenses, but added another 4 before I went to bed. At the end of the day on Oct. 7th I had 153 lenses. That means I added 19 lenses in a week.

Did the lenses earn any money?

The answer is yes. Some of them earned money within days. However, they aren't the type of lenses that earn every single day. I started out by using low competition keywords that didn't get a lot of traffic. i wanted to be sure I could rank for the keyword within days. Why? I wanted to make sure that there would be sales. The only way i would know is if it made it to the first page of Google as soon as possible without having to build backlinks. That saves me time which I can use to build more lenses.

How much did the lenses earn?

At the end of the first week my Squidoo accounts showed a total of $37.27 and $9.93 from my personal Amazon Affiliate account. (That doesn't include Squidoo ad revenue share or ebay sales). The earnings are a little difficult to keep track of because I believe the ebay sales from the previous month was already posted in preparation for my monthly payout. My totals decreased after my October Squidoo payment was made. I have the totals for those weeks too. Will share them in a future post.

Another Squidoo Experiment

While building my lenses, I decided to add a few seasonal lenses. I wanted to see if what I learned worked for all kinds of lenses regardless of the topic. I'm happy to say that I had successful results. I know that many of you want to see what the lenses look like. I tried to post links on my previous hub, but the HubPages TOS clearly states you can't have more than two links to the same site. I was so bummed out, I stopped sharing my results. However, I found another way to share the links. It's too late to go back and share every lens that I posted for the past month. However, I did create a list of my Halloween Squidoo lenses. From now on, i will also post the lenses I build on a daily basis. If you are joining me in the challlenge, leave me a comment over there. ;)

Take the Squidoo Challenge!

Hope you enjoyed this hub. Please, take the time to share this hub with friends and family by email, twitter, Facebook, pinterest or your favorite social network site.
