Three Tips For School Supply Shopping Success!

Shopping for School Supplies can be a very stressful time for parents both financially as well as organizationally. But it is a necessary task that must be done in order to help our children start out strong on their first day of school. But shopping for school supplies for kids doesn't have to be stressful, especially if you are prepared.

As a Mom of 3 I have learned a few tips and tricks that help me save money as well as prevent stress all the way around during the dreaded "back to school" school supply buying.

School Supply List

Planning for shopping for school supplies is I get a school supplies list from the school for the items that my children will need. Then I go through each list and create one master school supply list. This helps to save money because I am only purchasing what I need

Buy School Supplies in Bulk

I buy most of my children's school supplies in bulk. Buying in bulk prevents me from having to buy more supplies halfway through the year. So it prevents more aggravation down the road. So instead of purchasing three small packs of pens, I'll get one huge pack of pens. I often save up to 50% by buying school supplies in bulk.

Buy School Supplies Online

I also find that by shopping online, I avoid the crowds. But most importantly, I am less likely to buy items on impulse. And if I start researching over the summer, I can keep my eye on the specials and buy items when I see them on sale, saving even more money. Often you can get a better selection online as well.

So if you normally shop for school supplies at the mall perhaps this you you can try something different. You might be surprised on how much you enjoy it.

Making a list of the things you need to buy is always important. You don't want to walk around the store asking yourself, " what was it I needed to buy again?" I'm actually planning on putting up a small school supplies store in the near future. Hehehe. :)

You can save a lot of money on school supplies when you organize and buy in bulk. Now that my children are older I like to put an ad out on craigslist and find a few families in need of some help. It's always exciting when you have new supplies for the school year!
