What You Need to Know About Online Printable Coupons

Updated on March 14, 2011

Online Coupons may save you some money on Fluffy and Fido

If you are trying to cut corners and save yourself a little bit of money, you may do so by cutting a bit your expenses for food. Food is perhaps the second largest expense you have each month after your rent or mortgage. However, while your mortgage or rent is a fixed cost, the good thing is that the costs of foods are variable, meaning that you can be in charge of your spending. One of the best ways to save on foods is through coupons.

The Advantages of online Coupons

When thinking about coupons however, most people think about the Sunday newspaper.  Several people after all, purchase the Sunday paper for the main purpose of clipping out some coupons for their favorite foods. However, not many people are aware of the fact that many times coupons may be obtained from the comfort of their home.

The main advantages are that there is no need to head out, spend gas and purchase a newspaper. There are several online resources for coupons. The only thing you need is a computer, an internet connection and a printer. A simple Google search for ''online printablecoupons'' should yield a good amount of websites that will provide several coupons.

The best thing to do is visit as many as may coupon websites as possible in order to gather a good variety of coupons to use on your next shopping trip. Most grocery stores today accept online coupons. Years ago, many were not because they feared that the system was being abused by people producing fake ones, but it looks like now coupon websites have found some way to prevent this from happening.

Print your online coupons only from reputable sources. The website should clarify that they abide to security guidelines. Each coupon should have an expiration date, a bar code, the manufacturer's address and somewhere it should state that no photocopies should be permitted and that each coupon should be limited to one coupon per item and per customer.

If you are hesitant in using printed coupons simply because you are afraid of getting a surprise upon checking out, then present them to the grocery store customer service rep and ask in advance if the coupons are accepted. If possible, print out a whole sheet of coupons so they will be able to see the source of the coupons and verify if the company is legit and reputable.

Shopping on Ebay for Coupons

Another great option is to purchase coupons on Ebay. Many coupons are offered already clipped and there may be a small shipping fee. In order to get a good deal you should spend less for these coupons than purchasing a Sunday newspaper, plus your gas. Often great deals may be found because often hundreds of coupons are given away.  Always read about when the coupons are supposed to expire and check the seller's feedback.

On Ebay you may also find coupons for people with specific needs in mind. For example: if you are a pet owner looking on ways to save money, you may find several coupons for your dog's favorite foods, if you have a baby, you may find coupons for baby food, diapers and all the alike, if you are a handy man you may be delighted in finding several coupons for 10% off Lowe's and Home Depot.

As seen, when it comes to saving money, you can think outside the box and go get your coupons directly from cyber space. This is an effortless and economical way to save some money here and there.
