Easy Saving Money Tips

  • Plan for your shopping trip to avoid buying things that you had not planned for. Make a shopping list of the things you want and when you are the supermarket do not allow yourself to be distracted
  • Choose healthy foods which in many cases is less expensive than the fancy and unhealthy foods. The benefits of this strategy is twofold in terms of the savings in cash and the improvement of the general health of the family
  • Buy seasonal products which tend to be cheaper than the out-of-season foodstuffs. The increased supply of these foodstuffs is what makes them cheaper and there are a lot savings that can be gained with this strategy
  • Use coupons or take advantage of sales for products that you would normally stock. Although sales and promotions can lead to you buying more than you require, if done properly this can save you lots of cash
  • Cook your own food for school or work which save you costs of eating at a restaurant. There is also the advantage that a home cooked meal is healthier and more hygienic than restaurant food

  • Preserve food by freezing or drying it instead of throwing it away. Preserving excess food will save you money on return trips to the grocery store. While this is a good strategy, it should be done in moderation as preserved food can go bad if not properly stored. You should also ensure that you use a first-in-first-out (FIFO) system when handling stored foods
  • Substitute meat protein with vegetable protein which is cheaper and healthier than meats especially red meat. This does not mean that you cannot take an occasional meal of meat, but it should be done in moderation

  • Buy perishables in small quantities and do it more frequently which prevent them from going bad when they are in excess. Though this will result in more frequent visits to the grocery store, you will always have fresh food that does not go to waste
  • Purchase store brands instead of main brands which are more expensive. If a store is packing its own groceries, these are likely to be cheaper than the major brands which have invested heavily on packaging and marketing
  • Buy bulk for items that you consume in large quantities so as to take advantage of their lower cost. Caution should however be taken not to tie up too much money on slow moving groceries which come in bulk as they may expire before consuming them
  • Plant a home garden for groceries such as vegetables. While this may not be possible for everyone, a small pot with two tomato plants can save on costs not forgetting the health benefits of freshly picked vegetables

Saving Money Tips for Black Friday

Black Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving where retailers offer the best deals of their customers. The consumer frenzy that occasions this day leads to good business for the retailers due to the increased sales at reduced prices for the consumers.

But is it really worth it for the consumer who has to line up in the cold for hours to get something just because it is been sold cheaply? If you add up the time and hassle costs to the final cost of the product, it turns out to be even more expensive than acquiring it under normal conditions.

How much does it cost to produce or procure the product that is now been sold at very low prices? What effect does this have on the production planning of the manufacturer and retailers?

Is Black Friday a Sales Gimmick?

Black Friday has now become a sales strategy and has lost the mystique it once had because the retailers now advertise the bargains much earlier than before. It is not unusual nowadays for the ads to run two days before the actual day.

Do not fall for over-hyped sales pitches from companies trying to improve sales figures before the end of the year. Ever wondered why the products been offered now at discount prices were never made available to you at a reasonable price before? And why does it have to be at the same time -after thanksgiving - every year?

You need to know that this tradition is meant to kick-off the Christmas season where you will be required to spend even more dollars on unnecessary stuff. The sales generated in this period are good for the economy of the country and of companies and their employees, but at a personal level they drain your savings and hard earned income.

Before you hit the streets jumping at every bargain thrown in your way, make sure you have all the information on the prices been offered. It is advisable not to go blindly expecting wonderful deals to be given to you on a silver platter.

Through the internet you will be able to get a good idea on where the worthwhile deals can be found. Information is power and you will save a lot of time and hassle just by be informed before hand.

3. Use Coupons

Coupons are given by manufacturers of goods for customers to redeem at retail outlets as a form of sales promotion through discounts.

You may have accumulated many coupons and it is best to use them so that you may get discounts to the products you really want to buy. This will reduce your overall shopping bill, though not significantly, but any money saved is money earned.

Print out as many coupons as possible and use them on Black Friday to save on your shopping expenses. However, make sure you check the expiry dates of the coupons before you try to redeem them.
