What is Kroger?

Kroger.com is the online home of Kroger, a national chain of grocery stores. Kroger is a one-stop shop for household goods including food, wine, beauty and healthcare products and prescriptions. The Kroger Company operates Kroger and other retailers including Dillons, Smiths, King Soopers, Frys, Harris Teeter and Fred Meyer.

What Kroger Sells

Kroger stores offer a wide variety of household goods including food, wine, health and beauty products, fresh meat, deli and dairy areas, and healthcare products including prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Stores are filled with nationally-known brands including Dove, Pantene, Hellmann's, Ragu, Country Crock, Axe and Starbucks Coffee. Kroger also carries its own store brands including the "Private Selection" brand, a label of sorbet, potato chips and other edible goods. Kroger faced allegations in February of 2014 that its "Simple Truth" brand of chicken was not truly cage-free.

Kroger Discounts

Kroger advertises deals in a weekly circular quoting special prices for those who use their Kroger Plus card. The Plus card is a loyalty card that can be obtained by providing basic information such as name, address and telephone number. Customers who do not use a Plus card at checkout pay a higher price on merchandise than those who do use a Plus card.

For those who use a Plus card, a perk of the program is accumulating fuel rewards points. These points accumulate and can be used at a Kroger gas station or another merchant's gas station in partnership with Kroger. Discounts on gasoline can be ten cents per gallon or more, depending on the amount spent at Kroger in a month.

Another wonderful way to save at Kroger is by using coupons. Kroger accepts manufacturer's coupons printed and mailed by the Kroger company. To be placed on the mailing list for Kroger coupons, simply sign up for a Kroger Plus Card and use it when you shop at Kroger.

Kroger Saves Money

Kroger stores accept manufacturer's coupons from the Sunday newspaper inserts such as RedPlum and SmartSource. Kroger also sends periodic coupons to loyal customers who use the Plus Card. The store advertises weekly sales and also offers digital coupons at Kroger.com.

Kroger Return Policy

Kroger offers a no-hassles return policy: simply bring the product and its packaging to the store with the receipt to receive a store credit, exchange, credit or adjustment.

Kroger Gift Cards

Need a gift in a hurry? Kroger stores offer a wide variety of gift cards for other merchants including Bass Pro Shops, XBox, Google, Applebee's, Captain D's, Forever 21 and more.

Kroger Convenience

Planning a party? Place an order with the Deli department and save on time. The Kroger.com floral department offers flower delivery 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

And guess what - Right now they are offering an e-coupon you can put on your Plus card and get 4X fuel points on gift cards until October 2nd! Save lots of $$$$$$$$$$$ on gas!

And they offer a Visa card (123-rewards card) which pays you checks you can spend at Kroger every quarter based on what you charge to the card - I've had quarters where I got $90 in checks! Plus, save an additional 25¢ per gallon for the first three months you have the card and now a Special Intro APR 0% Intro APR** for 9 billing cycles for purchases and balance transfers. After that, a variable APR, currently 13.99%, 18.99% or 23.99%**, applies. (I pay it off each month and so pay no interest).

I love Kroger, and when you seldom buy anything there that isn't on sale or clearance the savings skyrocket. They have a clearance bin for meat near sell by date - good for months if you freeze it 'till you use it.

erin! You forgot the most important stuff!

Every Thursday is senior day! - seniors get 5% off everything.

You forgot to mention you get one fuel point for each dollar spent at Kroger, 50 fuel points with every prescription filled, and 1000 fuel points if you transfer a prescription to Kroger from elsewhere (1000 points equals $1.00 off per gallon on 35 gallons max. - we drive two cars and fill up 5 gallon gas cans to get the 35 gallons at one time...don't wait too long between cars and cans or it will stop).

They also give 2X fuel points on gift cards (and run specials of 4X on gift cards). Want to spend $250 at home depot? buy the gift card at Kroger and get 1000 fuel points ($35 gas savings).

They have a clearance or manager's special rack where items are at least half price and they put lots of stuff there often. They also honor coupons and specials on clearance items.

I save hundreds of dollars every month shopping there.

One thing you should know is if family members all use the same address for the Kroger Plus card they will put all fuel points earned on any family member's Kroger Plus card to the one account (they go by address) so any family member can access all the points no matter who earned them if they all have the same address.

My father-in-law loved Kroger. (TN) We don't have any in California, but our neighbors to the north have Fred Myers. Nicely organized and informative hub.

We don't have one in our area, but it was interesting to learn about this chain market.

Kroger does have great deals all the time. I just love getting a free product weekly with their free Friday download digital offer. When you register your shopper's card online and sign in every Friday, under digital coupons, you will see free product offer, load to your card and then get it at kroger. From free yogurts, drinks, shampoo, frozen items, etc. it comes in handy.

I love Krogers! ;-) We moved to Dallas from a small town which only had Brookshires. My all time favorite is ALDI for cheap everything (1/2 the price of Wal-Mart). My second favorite is Kroger. I love their Kroger store brands because they are good quality and inexpensive. The Springdale Milk is also very tasty. They have a cheap selection of diapers & wipes too. ;-) Great hub!

We have Fred Meyer here but not Kroger. Whatever name they go by, they are big and crowded and thus I won't go in them. LOL
