Due to a Plant closing my employment was terminated in April of  '09. At that time they gave me...

a retirement package. I was never told to claim my pension nor was asked such a question in my bi-weekly claims.  I was also told that I was intitled to TAA which would have taken to Apr.'11. Unfortunately, in my innocence, I mentioned retirement when talking to a rep. last week.  All hell broke loose.  Am I intitled to collect unemployement (full or partial) when I was forced out but given a pension?

I don't know if this is exactly what you want.  Depending on WHY you took retirement, it could be considered fraud to also receive unemployment as well as a pension payout.

I attached an article with a link to more info.  Hope it helps.

Contact the company that handled your pension payout, they may offer some free advice on the rules.

If not, contact an expert.  Some government groups offer free advice.

Believe it or not, your age and how you received the payout changes the rules.
