How can we find the right Mutual Fund for investing our 401K?
I am a financial adviser and and investment adviser, my practice is limited to California so this is not an attempt solicit you.
Investor27 so far is on the right track, and is asking the right questions. If you are still at your job, unfortunately your fund selection is limited to the selection your plan sponsor chose for you, sometimes the selection is decent but often not so.
If you are at the point where you left your job, transferring that 401k money to an IRA would be a really good idea. However helping you choose a fund family and which mutual funds are best for your situation would be best left to you and your investment adviser. Having said that I do have some favorite fund families that I like, they are Franklin Templeton, Invesco, American Funds, and American Century.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I hope to write more hubs shortly on investing and personal finance.
Great information. Fidelity is currently holding my 401K through my employer. I am currently investing 6% and my employer is matching 7%. I do not show my money growing. I would like to learn where to diversify.
Thank you Cheryl. That is a fantastic match from your employer, tell them thank you. I would recommend you read some of my hubs on investing and personal finance. Unfortunately I don't have many yet, my time is very limited. But more will come.
