Has your food bill gone up?
Has your grocery bill increased in the past year? What are you doing to save money at the grocery store?
Absolutely, Due to the floods, wildfire, droughts, and the price of gas we are seeing it at the grocery store. To try and save money? I stay away from name brand items and buy the generic (Wal-mart) brands.
Food prices have gone up mainly as a result of the declining price of the dollar as well as numerous other factors. Food is a commodity, and like all commodities it will over the longer term have an inverse relationship to a currency. The weaker currency makes all things more expensive. But commidity prices are usually hit the hardest. The ridiculous ethanol subsidies don't help either. The govt has redirected substantial amounts of crop lands towards corn used for ethanol. This contributes to an increase in food prices. This has no positive effect on the consumer. And Ethanol isn't even good for you car to boot.
Yes, it has skyrocketed. Our one grocery store has always been very expensive but now things are outrageous. But we just keep adapting and cutting back, or leaving out certain foods we used to enjoy. Somehow with all this cutting back we have not lost any weight! LOL

I am curious where you get your food from.. Do you shop traditional grocery stores or are health food/co-ops the store for you? Do you grow gardens of produce? Do you can or freeze much if you do garden? Do you shop farmers markets rather than grow your own? Where do you get meats from?...
