Most people don't want to work until the day they die. I think the general consensus, at least in the US, is investments offer a return on investment (ROI) that makes waiting to use your money worth the wait. When people talk about investments, It is usually understood there is some risk involved, albeit sometimes very little. Savings implies no risk. Risk and returns usually go hand-in-hand. Little risk of losing money often yields low returns and high risk can sometimes yield the big payday.
