Implementation of Social Security System in India

Updated on August 19, 2011

Employees provident fund organization of India has introduced social security number or SSN in order to streamline the entire process of PF withdrawal and transfer.

You will get a unique SSN number like PAN or permanent account number. This will be your unique number, so the transfer or withdrawal of PF will happen more smoothly, especially the transfer of PF will be faster and hassle free.

This is beginning of US like number regime in India, where our SSN will become our major identity. This is also known as number communism where every citizen is a number for the government.

If you lose this identity, you will lose everything and may have to start from scratch. Every major records of individual will be referenced with this unique number.

This will be statutory requirement also and especially people who are dealing with the PF department should take a note of this.

This fulfillment may become mandatory for the next year return. Forms are available at PF office to get this number for employees. Employees can contact their HR department for more information on this.

Need of implementation of SSN

Police Verification - Seeing the rise in the murder and killings of people in their homes, the police have started asking for verifications from society and employees with reference to the domestic help in their homes!

Not only this, but even the tenants have to verify themselves!

So far this move is in full swing in India.

I hope this will help sorting out kidnapping cases, murders and other atrocities committed by some people!

Calling for a decent living!

A better solution to that would be issuing an identification number to each citizen and having the government to keep records of all the citizens. Every time a company employs someone, the company should inform the government.

Murders by help aids and kidnapping and robbery has become quite a menace! A social security number is a unique number given to every person living in US. (including indian students). The number contains a lot of detail about you. Like how many credit cards you have and who is/was your employer and if you have any criminal background or not.

Implementing it is not at all expensive and in fact a lot of money would be saved in the election process.

National Identity Card is fast becoming a necessity with all these terrorist threats and illegal immigration plaguing our nation. It can also be helpful in tracing the information of any particular individual very easily and thus will help in bringing the culprits, gangsters, and anti-social elements to task more promptly.

Implementation of SSN in a big country like India is going to be a big, big project but still keeping in mind the price that we pay in form of lives, property, and resources lost due to the terror strikes and illegal immigration, its should be worth it.

Social security number is a common database containing all the information about a particular individual. An authorized person can collect all the information about anyone using this database. This is already in practice India. We need to implement it too

Having a national ID card on top of PAN card, passport, driver's license, ration card, and electoral card should be mandatory. There should be one single integrated identity smart card that can serve this purpose just like SSN card.
