Why it is believed that the website factoidz is a scam site?

Updated on April 29, 2011

There are various reasons for Factoidz to be believed as a scam site or Ponzi scheme site. Yesterday, when I was referring my friends to Factoidz via Facebook assuming it was a good site, Mr. Muralidharan Thopey, one of our fellow hubbers sent me a message on FB with a link to an article opening up my eyes. After reading that article and ensuing comments, I was totally surprised to know that Factoidz was a scam site. I didn’t believe in that article at that time and then went on to check more about this site via googling for words like “factoidz scam”, factoidz ponzi”, “factoidz fraud” and I found a lot of articles and blogs written by writers that were against joining factoidz. After gathering all the information I stopped referring my friends to factoidz and even apologize and then warn them about Factoidz.

Here are some reasons, which led me to believe that Factoidz is a scam site:

  • If you will write an article on Factoidz, you don’t have any way to edit or delete it. It will remain there you are getting paid for it or not.
  • Factoidz displays adsense ads and pays writers via paypal. From most comments gathered from various online writers, Factoidz pays well initially but after a few months, your user level will drop and your statistics will keep changing. For example if you are earning 100 dollars in October 2010 then you will be earning even 50 dollars in January 2011 which has not been the case with other revenue sharing sites like Hubpages, Squidoo, Triond, etc.
  • Factoidz is a Ponzi scheme site because it pays well to the newcomers and once a user gets old, his/her earnings slash drastically. The new members who are referred by other members to factoidz will always earn more money.

  • Statistics will keep on changing drastically on a daily basis. For example if you have 100 articles on Factoidz and you are getting 3000 views on November 10, 2010 than you can get 1500 views on November 12, 2010 without any major reason.
  • Some Factoidz writer have experienced dramatic change in their users levels for example a Staff writer with 23 articles has a base earning of one dollar in December month but in January if he writes 20 more articles, the base earnings drop to below half a dollar.
  • The owner of Factoidz is Mike Quac living somewhere in California. The administrator deletes all the posts asked by factoidz members regarding their earnings or other complaints.
  • The About section of Factoidz has no personal voice, no proper info about the company, and no information about their location.

So above are various reasons that have led me to believe that the website factoidz is a scam site and I will not ever recommend any one to join this site. If you are a person looking out for earning money writing articles online, then joining hubpages is my recommendation.

Indian content writers and bloggers who have got their adsense account rejected but still wish to earn money writing articles can join which is an Indian article writing site that pays in rupees via check to directly your home address in India. No need of adsense account, ebay, amazon, chitika, infolinks, bidvertizer, or something else, only pure Indian rupees. Minimum payout is 1500 rs per month.

Another option of earning money writing articles is joining Triond which is another adsense revenue sharing site.

I have been with Factoidz for a while. Ponzi scheme sounds like a new catch phrase for anyone who believes they've been conned out of money.

Factoidz's terms are a little vague for sure, and I'm still trying to figure out how my activity level per article changes from one to the next...

But I always get my money, every month, I don't have too much trouble with them. I did get dropped down to "writer" from "staff writer" once, but am back at staff writer again....

I have no complaints other than they never respond to posts and it is nearly impossible to contact the site administrators.

I've been with Factoidz since 2009 and have over 300 articles there. I've never experienced any issues - they have always been one of the highest paying sites out there, consistently. They do have very strict standards though, and I've seen a lot of writers get frustrated with their articles being rejected - but they usually just go somewhere else. I'm sorry to hear about your story Elizabeth - I haven't heard of such things happening at Factoidz, but hopefully you will get your issue resolved. I believe Factoidz is just specific for more experienced writers.

I only have a few articles on Factoidz. But I normally do Back links for them every month @2-3 a day and so far I have been promptly paid by them on the 1st of the month itself. So I have no complaints.

I am a Factoidz victim. There are hundreds like me. It is definetely a ponzi scheme. It is the game of a single swindler. I was lured into the trap about a year ago.

The trap is set like this. There are a few writers of the site who are with the fraudster and they are given a share of the loot. The would tom tom their gain and new writers sign up. They would be paid higher than other sites and they would work more. When it reaches above 100 articles, the grab starts. First you may be demoted from a staff writer’s status to a writer’s. For this some fake violation may be alleged. Then you may be made just a member without any pay.

First the income will go up. Then it will stay for a month. Then it will begin to decline. Finally it will reach a few dollars or cents, virtually your content is stolen.

You cannot delete your content. If you delete it from each page. The thief will reload it. Even if you ask for an answer a hunded times, you will not get a reply.

When I reached 50 articles, I got nearly $50. So I worked hard and reached 80 and I got nearly $100. I was excited and in a few days I reached 100 and next pay was around $100. I was still excited and reached 250 within a month working most of my time. Then my payment came down to $60 dollars. I asked for an explanation. I was demoted to “writer”. I again wrote; a few of my articles were deleted and I was banned alleging a fake violation. I had raised the issue at the forum. Similar many other issues were alive at the forum and the stink was spreading. So the writers’ forum was shut down without any explanation. No I am placed as a writer with a monthly payout of around $4. I have repeatedly requested to delete my account and content. But no avail. The thief has stolen my 265 articles. All unique content. The initial payment lasted only for 2 to 3 months. A ponzy scheme.

A lot of victims have written about the story of the thief at several online forums. Now to escape it he is writing on his own site in others’ names defending the site. Also he writes at many places on the Internet in others’ names to defend the site.

@queler, valory, anuram, and tamron, thanks a lot for sharing your views about factoidz.

@tamron, by the way, I don't agree with you regarding all the revenue sharing sites making all the money. Factoidz cannot be compared to hubpages which is a legitimate site and definitely pays its promised share to the members.

Factoidz is a ponzi scheme site and should be avoided. I have written just two articles at Factoidz and I am receiving 0.49 cents every month in paypal. I am not planning to write more articles there.

Your right Factoidz doesn't give you much info. I asked a question on there forum I never could find the question so now I don't know the answer. I wrote my first article they say it take 24 hours will see! Personally I think we are doing all the work and all these site are the ones making money not us.

Consider yourself lucky anuramkumar, consider yourself lucky.

You might be interested in Seekyt, you can post articles and bookmarks and still make money via AdSense without having to worry about being cheated from all your hard work and the time you put into it.

This is my referral link, you can use it if you like or not. You can always just type in seekyt in your address bar to go to the site if you prefer, I'm fine with it either way, just want to let others know that you do not have to put forth so much work and have nothing to show for it within a few months on that other site.

Oh, btw, it seems that some folks are making a big deal about the different user name here on HubPages, but it's no big deal, I chose this name months before there was any sign of being cheated on the other site. It was back then just a simple choice and has nothing to do with anyone else online. It's just the user name I chose for this site.

Factoidz has one employee...Mike Quac. His Ponzi runs just as the writer portrayed; the newbie gets $ and recommends others. As soon as the Newbie has about 100 articles up, Quac takes them and locks the writer out. On Triond, which pays 1c for every 6 views, you will make far more than on Factoidz.

Do Not Join Factoidz. Quac will steal your work and lock you out. He has done it to dozens of people, he will do it to you.

Thank you so much hubber-2009. I was the one who referred you to Factoidz but I was unaware at that time. Thanks to Murali who showed me the right path and helped in preventing my online friends and hubpages colleagues to fall prey to this scam site. I wish you good luck. Keep writing and earning more and more money.
