3rd Democratic Debate, Beto O'Rourke Re-Energized

Updated on September 16, 2019

A speech I grew up with was President Lincoln's "house divided". Having learned how far back it goes. Sad that we haven't learned from it.

Team Trump
Team Trump

John Cornyn is up for re-election, why is he campaigning for Trump?

John Cornyn is running for re-election. Texans wanted Beto O'Rourke to run against John Cornyn. Beto O'Rourke has made it clear that he will not step down from his Presidential campaign to run against Cornyn, so why attack Beto O'Rourke on behalf of Donald Trump?

Cornyn is playing his Trump card heavily in hopes that Beto O'Rourke supporters will not vote for his opponent and make sure that he keeps his supporters in line by tying himself to Trump.

Notice that Cornyn does not mention anything about what he or even Trump want to do for America. He uses lies, hate and divisive rhetoric and the continued Team Trump strategy.

Texas deserves better than John Cornyn and the Team Trump rhetoric and Texas has a better option.

Major M.J. Hegar
Major M.J. Hegar

Texas' Democratic candidate and warrior working to unseat John Cornyn

Major Mary Jennings Hegar is an Air Force Veteran and teacher who is also a veteran of the war in Afghanistan and a graduate of the University of Texas. A true patriot, who has distinguished herself as an officer and earned several commendations.

  • Distinguished Flying Cross
  • Purple Heart
  • National Defense Medal
  • Air Medal
  • Afghanistan Campaign Medal
  • Humanitarian Service Medal

John Cornyn can't run as a candidate for all Texans' because he and Moscow Mitch have been pushing the Trump agenda from day one.

MJ Hegar knows what sacrifice for her fellow man is and she will definitely represent all Texans.

A break out night for Beto O'Rourke

The 3rd Democratic Debate, Beto O'Rourke's will be remembered for taking a stand. "Hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK47. We're not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore", was his response to gun control.

While Beto O'Rourke spoke for just over 9 minutes the entire night, he left the debate with the topic that has been talked about all day. This was the first time that the Democrats talked about gun control during the debate because it's long been known as political poison, but times have changed and domestic terrorism is alive and well in America and it has to be discussed.

Some media outlets, chose to ignore the topic and Beto O'Rourke altogether and others were cautious in their reporting.

  • The Washington Post did not mention O'Rourke at all.
  • The New York Post gave him a down arrow, although they call it his best debate, but they went on to make an odd comment, that they were not sure a straight white guy can inspire Democrats in 2020. New York Post is a conservative paper and their article didn't make any sense as Joe Biden is a straight white guy that is leading the pack.
  • The New York Times did not say anything about Beto O'Rourke, but they quoted David Axelrod who mentioned that Beto's moving on the issue of banning assault weapons was very very powerful.
  • BBC mentioned that Beto was re-energized
  • National Catholic Reporter said that O'Rourke had a very strong performance, but cannot break out of the pack as a single issue candidate.
  • Fox News, no mention of O'Rourke or others except the top 3, Warren, Biden and Sanders. They left it to late night trash talker Tucker Carlton to bash O'Rourke.
  • NJ.Com, They listed Beto O'Rourke as a winner. "His unequivocal stance on gun control was a standout."
  • FiveThirtyEight, had O'Rourke in 3rd place behind Warren and Buttigeig
  • Vox, They listed Beto O'Rourke as a winner.
  • NBC News, Beto O'Rourke was praised by other candidates, showing respect. They also said it could be because they don't feel threaten by him.

Texas Republican Briscoe Cain III

Texas Republican Representative Briscoe Cain III threatens Beto O'Rourke

At 8:40 pm., while Beto O'Rourke was debating 9 other Democrats in Houston, Texas. Republican State Representative Briscoe Cain III was tweeting a threat to the the Presidential candidate. "My AR is ready for you Robert Francis".

So, who is Briscoe Cain III? He is a first time elected State Representative in Texas. He is a white male in his 30's, who ran for office with the support of the Tea Party. He has the most conservative voting record and has been in trouble with his own party for his actions.

  • He mocked Physicist Stephen Hawkins at the time of his death and angered many in his own party.
  • When asked about anti-trans violence, he said "its dudes in dresses getting beat up."
  • Most recently due to his issue with Planned Parenthood, abortions and funding, he suggested that the city of Austin be abolished.
  • He admitted to the media that he suffers from Asperger's. A form of Autism, which is considered a mental disorder.

Beto O'Rourke responded to Cain's tweet; "This is a death threat Representative, clearly you shouldn't have an AR15- and neither should anyone else.

Following the behavior of Briscoe Cain, this State Representative may have just strengthened the case for Beto O'Rourke's gun control measures.

Apparently you haven't read through my hubs, I have written about Dems, but Trump lies and tries to deceive Americans on a daily basis and so there is much to write about.

Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at that. You can continue to blame the Democrats for all that is wrong with America dating back to before you were born and blame the media for everything as well. And I will go on knowing that FACTS point to Trump being the biggest liar on this continent.

I am a proud conservative and I am a strong believer in books. There are many good goods on politics and many are written by Conservatives IMHO. Unfortunately, the media bias has not always given them the credit they deserve and most are not reviewed by the NYT even though they are on the bestseller list...why?

Spoken like a true Trump supporter. I respect that, because you are a man of conviction and will stick to your support because you believe it's right. And you may be right about the impeachment because he has many friends in high places and the GOP are afraid of him.

But I will say this, I've never said that Obama or Hillary didn't lie because they are human and we are not perfect. But Trump can't tell the truth, 13,000 + lies?

The lies are in the eye of the beholder. Obama lied, Hillary lied...The NYT has lied intentionally and later retracted the lie...I can state for a fact that we all lied at least once in our career. The only person who has not lied is Jesus.

The latest impeachment vote is an example of how a deep state employee, without first hand evidence, has dragged the country into another distraction, similar to the Mueller investigation...all in an attempt to stop Trump from doing the work he was elected.

Here is my prediction. Trump will not be impeached because there is no “high crimes and misdemeanor” committed.

This vote will insure the re-election of Trump in 2020.

That is the problem with our current country. We have people who confuse facts with opinion...and supported or fed by a corrupt media.

Kavanaugh was about abortion issue. The next Supreme court appointment will also be about abortion. Mark my words.

Let's get the facts: You are spewing Trump rhetoric.

      On abortion:

      https://www.huffpost.com/entry/virginia-governor-r...

The who Kavanaugh debate was not about abortion: Wake Up! It was about a man like Trump who disrespects women and attacks them without consent.

Fact: Mueller spent 2 years and come up with the fact that Trump obstructed the investigation. He did not clear him on that by saying if the information came it, it would definitely change things and today that information was released.

I don't know how you can compare the tariffs under Trump and what they are saying about the Democrats.

Take off your rose colored glasses.

Schummer was to make better deals that protects the American worker, Stop China from buying American companies and outsourcing it back to China.

Ask those people in Virginia's Smithfield Plant how that's working for them.

He also wants to stop them from buying up our countries and siphoning trade secrets. Nowhere does it say that the Democrats want to add tariffs and pitch fits for not getting their way.

Jack Lee, I am a proud American we in my family have served our country dating back to the Revolutionary War. Had a prisoner of Bataan, we have given more than many so don't even begin to think that you know me or that I'm tearing down my country. I am neither a hypocrite nor do I look at things through your rose colored glasses.

My disdain for Trump is not personal nor does it drive me insane. It drives me to push for the FACTS and TRUTH, not lies which he is someone where up to nearly 13,000 of pushing on the American people.

If following blinding is common sense, it is you that I feel sorry for.

A Trump supporter pushing the "win at any cost" theory is almost a joke. He just asked a foreign country to help him win, he even had Russia help him during his 2016 election. So, who is pushing to "win at any cost".

Now, you are sorely mistaken and just pushing the same lying rhetoric about abortion. Democrats have never supported abortion at ANY STAGE!

Trump is not a game changer, put down "the art of the deal" it's fiction. Ask those that are suffering from the "game changer" and ask Trump how his tariffs are working for him.

Also, how is it that in these great talks with China, China imposed tariff on US farm products (62%). Causing farmers to los $28 Billion in 2 years and Trump having to compensate them to hold on to their votes, but yet in Aug of this year China was sold 10,211 tons of pork from the US.

      Trump tariffs are a joke.

Lady Liberty, I never said our country is perfect but we are better than the rest in so many ways. It is a shame that Americans like you, wants to tear our country down just because you don’t like Trump and hate it when he was elected and it just drives some insane. They lost all sense of common sense and fairness when it comes to Trump. The appointment of Kavanaugh just drove them over board. They lost their sense of objectivity and exposed their evil intent, win at any cost...willing to change our justice system of innocent until proven guilty...just so they can keep the right to abortion at any stage.

With the trade debate with China, this has been a problem for many decades and all countries and political parties agree that China is a problem but no one was able to challenge them until Trump. That is why he is a game changer.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. America has not been prim and proper either, nothing against my country. But it is naive to believe that we haven't done similar things. Heck, we have our own people stealing data to sell to China.

And to complain about their dumping steel and solar panels at a low cost. The guy you support buys it for his construction, buys it for his flags and other campaign items. So you can't look down on what they provide when your guy is a large buyer of it.

It's kind of laughable how you explain Xi. Trump has been charging Trump 2024, Trump 2028 signs on twitter and talked about how he should stay longer because of all the "witch hunts" keeping him from doing his job. Trump has even sued to go around the law to pass what he wants.

So, your attempt to justify your belief is actually hypocritical.

Before Trump, the US and China were respected and considered the two greatest economic powers. The bully tactics that Trump uses don't work. After 2 1/2 years, where are we? Up to our necks in tariffs. And since Trump came into "power" there is no civility or truth coming from the White House. He tweets changes on a dime.

Checks and Balances have governed our country in the past and it should be a process that we have again in our country and in our negotiation process. We have an old saying, you can catch more bees with honey, than with vinegar.

Never in all of human history? Really? Maybe you need to read about the steel tycoons, the robber barons. The created great wealth for themselves along with mobility, but just like Trump. Not for the masses of America.

Ask the farmers how those Make America Great Tariffs are working for them. US farmers have lost their 4th largest export market. Due to tariff's their supplies are costing more and they have less place to export to. Because of the higher tariff's their cost is passed on the the masses of America, who can't afford them and cut back on the purchases which hurts them even more. I know farmers who aren't farming right now because they can't afford to take another loss. Ask all those people who have always gotten back a tax refund and had to pay due to Make America Great tax laws under Trump.

I don't wear rose colored glasses and while their is goodness in America, it isn't because of Trump, it's in spite of him and his cronies.

Good for you. Write that book. History is important...

You are entitled to your opinion about Trump. I can only lead you to water...so to speak.

I also wrote an ebook here on hubpages. The title is “The Goodness of America.”

It will explain where I am coming from. The motivation for this book is in my discussion with some of the young people and my fellow colleagues, I feel they just don’t appreciated what we have here and how unique it is and how exceptional it is. Never in all of human history, has a nation advanced so quickly and achieved such wealth and mobility for the masses as America.

I'm sorry, I have to laugh at your inconsequential president comment. He will go down in history as an obstructionist and a liar, up to 13,000 SO FAR. I am an American citizen I can disagree with whatever I want because of it. But to not use his tweets against him? Really? He is the President of the United States and he tweets some radical, unstable and hateful stuff. If Obama tweeted anything like this you guys would be flipping out. So lets not be hypocritical. Clinton was a fool and I agree on you with the Monica thing. Well, for you not to repeat because you have to much glass, what I said was only a repeat of what Trump said, the classeless President I guess, wouldn't you say?

How is he making America Great Again? He is allowing big business to destroy our water, our land, our food safety because they need more land to drill for oil, they want less inspectors so they can push subpar meats. Everything he cuts makes us less safe in air quality, food safety and health safety. If that's great it's not the America my family helped establish, you see my family has been here since before the battle of the Alamo and I've seen a lot in my lifetime that I could write a book, but right now I'm writing a book about the war and our brave men who fought in it and the sacrifices we've made for our people and their safety.

Wow, spoken like a never Trumper...

Like him or not, he is going down as a most consequential president of our times. In 2 short years, he has reversed all of Obama’s progressive policies and turned our economy around.

You can disagree with his policies but don’t use his tweets or his personal life against him. After all, it was you Democrats who allowed Clinton into the White House and did what he did with an intern..

Not to be repeated here, I have too much class.

He is making America Great Again and the fact the left sees that as a negative tells all you need to know about them. They don’t like America, and they think our country is flawed from the get go and never gave us credit when credit is due. America is a good country and I wrote a whole book about it. That is my opinion as a first generation immigrant from Taiwan.

Well unlike you and the rest of the Trump supporters, I took off my rose colored glasses and saw Trump for what he was when he lied throughout his campaign, when he bragged about grabbing women by the pussy and when he began making fun of people like it was a good thing, when he began showing that he was a bully and that getting his way was all that mattered.

Then he obstructed the investigation into Kavanaugh, by limiting the scope to make sure to cover for his ass and get him on the Supreme Court, then he obstructed the investigation by having Cory Lewandowski write a letter and requested he give it to Jeff Session, who by the way,(just a tad bit of information that gets glossed over by the Right), had already recused himself and could not have done what Trump wanted him to do and that was read it to the media to exonerate him from the Russia collusion. So, NO, the Democrats and the media are not losing it. And no matter how much Trump supporters and Trump try to blame the media and the Democrats, the facts are that Trump is on video, tweets and other forms of media saying exactly what is being reported by the media, with exception of the Trump brigade on Fox News.

It's funny that you say Beto O'Rouke doesn't understand how democracy works. He was a Congressman, Unlike Trump who can't even read the paper, let alone something as simple as Roberts Rules of Order. He has no idea how our Government works.
