A Person Of Integrity And Honor

Thoughts are always flirting with my imagination. It is like a continuous movie playing from one scene to another. This hub was meant to be focused differently but almost starting it, I decided to share something else.

The title comes from the word "Mensch" in German; as I was searching to write about the movie titled "MENSCHEN" (2012). I am a Special Education teacher and when I know or see about a person classified as one of my students, of course it will call my attention and this movie has an actor with Down Syndrome playing an important roll.

The plot of the movie "MENSCHEN" is:"The Wehrmacht forces are weary from retreat, while the Allies are closing in. A single Austrian captain attempts to guide what is left of his platoon behind the Russian lines to surrender to the Americans. They take under their wing a young man with a severe disability. As the loyalty of his men is brought to the test, the captain grows closer to the boy who evokes a deep secret from his past ." (taken from the movie site).

Down Syndrome is known as a genetic disorder caused by a chromosome abnormality that occurs before birth. Instead of 46 chromosomes that typical babies have, Down Syndrome are born with 47 chromosomes. This one more chromosome will cause changes in the development of the child's body and brain.

I have worked with different kinds of students (we all are different, just like zebras and our fingerprint declares it also) and all of them require special attention according to their human needs (Don't all of us need that "special attention"?). The actor in this movie does not only speak about ability or talent, but of a person of integrity and honor.

A person is a creation from God, a human, an individual, a distinct, indivisible entity, often one among many others of a similar kind, somebody with life, someone with identity, legal personality, duties and rights.

Isaiah 44:24 "This is what the LORD says--your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself,"

Have you felt grateful for the awesome gift of being alive?

Integrity is the following of moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty. It is the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished.

Integrity starts from the moment of conception, when the man's sperm fertilizes a woman's egg. The nine months of pregnancy (some are less or more) are among the most memorable of our life. Day by day the baby transforms from a single, microscopic cell to a perfectly formed little person of integrity and honor.

I feel this incredible deep pride for this movie where a person that could have been aborted if the mother would have followed other instructions of others that do not understand that we come to this earth with a purpose as read in Isaiah 49:1 "Listen to Me, O islands, And pay attention, you peoples from afar. The LORD called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me. "

Who dares to steal away our integrity; labeling, stumbling, killing, aborting, suiciding, harming a living human? Is the same integrity that is exhibited in public the same one that is acted in private?
