JFK fired this CIA Director for his role in the Bay of Pigs fiasco
Although no longer employed by the CIA, as their representative on President Lyndon Johnson's Warren Commission, Allen Dulles made sure there was no discovery of the fact that while he was Director of the CIA, the agency had enlisted the help of La Cosa Nostra in its plots to assassinate Fidel Castro.
Allen Dulles knew quite well who Lee Harvey Oswald really was and that he was just a patsy. Dulles also knew who was really behind JFK's assassination and did his best to make certain that The Warren Commission steered clear of finding out.
The Most Important Thing
The most important thing to understand about Allen Dulles is that he had career Army and Air Force officer L. Fletcher Prouty create a network of subordinate focal point offices in the armed services, then throughout the entire U.S. government, whose Dulles appointed members would act quickly, with total obedience, when called on by the CIA to assist with covert operations.
From The Senate Intelligence Committee report on the CIA-Mafia plots
Bissell recalled that "in the latter part of September" there was "a meeting in which Colonel Edwards and I briefed Mr. Dulles and General Cabell" about plans to assassinate Castro. Bissell testified that "Colonel Edwards outlined in somewhat circumlocutious terms the plan that they had discussed with syndicate representatives." He stated that Edwards had said: "That contact had been made with [the underworld], that a plan had been prepared for their use...that the plan would be put into effect unless at that time or subsequently he was told by Mr. Dulles that it should not be."
According to the Senate Report, Allen Dulles kept this information from the other members of The Warren Commission.
