America Under the Knife

Obesity

For years now it has been known that the cases of obesity, in the United States, are on the increase. It is particularly noticeable within teenagers.

For older people one of the options has been to take surgery, removing part of the stomach. It was thought that this is perhaps preferable to a string of illnesses that can be associated to obesity in later years.

Now though, some doctors in the US are recommending similar surgery for teenagers. They say that it too would stop illnesses in years to come.

They say that they do not know of any side effects that this surgery may have. How can they know?

Up till now they have only carried out the procedure on more elderly people, so how can they tell whether there will be side effects to the “victims” in later years?

This increase in the obesity rates is a side effect of the American society and their way of life.

Has it really come to the point where teenagers have to have operations to remove parts of perfectly working organs, in order to have a normal life?

These operations must cost money. Is it possible that the doctors are encouraging surgery in order to swell their own pockets?

Is it just irony that in a country where this kind of cosmetic surgery is on the increase, that there is an almost equal amount of increase in the number of people that cannot afford life saving surgery?

Fire Arms

Instances of shootings in High Schools are on the increase, yet there seems to be no action being taken in the US to make it harder for these teenagers to acquire weapons.

Once again these actions are a side effect of the American Society.

Will it have to get to the point where there are regular shootings occurring in pre schools before the Government will make laws that require a person to know more than just how to spell his name to buy a sub machine gun?

Now they can even buy them at Wal-Mart.

Recently one State has recently even made it legal for hunters to buy silencers. Are the hunters now worried that the prey can outrun the bullet?

The World

The United States often seems keen to go to war on the grounds that every country deserves to be more like them.

Perhaps the Government should stop and take one good look back at what the United States is becoming, perhaps other countries do not want to be like them.

The children in the United States today, if they don’t get shot at school or lose their organs in an operating theater, can look forward to going to some foreign country and risk their lives to bring these unique privileges to others.

Considering the United States is supposed to be fighting a war against terror, it seems strange that armament sales, both at home and abroad are on the increase.

When will the Government learn that just because you are an American citizen, it does not make you immune to American made bullets?
