Are We Free? 4th of July
4th of July
The 4th of July, a day meant to celebrate freedom. Unfortunately, that freedom was not for everybody. We still have racism and prejudice, we have children locked in cages and their parents going missing. We have people being murdered by the people we pay to protect and serve.
Acknowledging Injustice is Not Disrespect
I am still thankful to our veterans who sacrificed their lives to help this country. These brave people have risked or even sacrificed their lives in hopes of making this country a better place. The fact that this country isn't "great" or "the best" does not discredit what they have done, it just means we have more to fight for.
What Does the Future Hold?
With the help of the BLM movement, our younger generation, and those willing to use their voice we can someday make this country great for ALL people, of all races, ethnicities, immigration statuses, religions, etc. Everyone can help in their own way. Donation is one option, if you can- please donate, but for some, this is not possible. Joining in on protests is another option, this one can also be hard for those who may have disabilities, are young, who have illnesses or immunodeficiency, or are worried about their safety. One of the easiest options that most can do is using their voice- on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Blogs, in person, or on other platforms. You can educate others and yourself, spread awareness, and use your voice to amplify other voices.
In whatever way (or ways) you are able to advocate for a better future I urge you to do so. I also urge you to continue to educate yourself and keep your mind and heart open.
