The Spiritual Decay of Personal Faith in the Lord Will Be Our Undoing

Unrepentant Personal Sin Is at the Heart of Why These Prophesied Calamities are Coming

Thus, the period (Reference Article #1) of great and natural disasters and calamities is identified as being after the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled (world missionary force is called home) and during the period of wars of total destruction. President Brigham Young warned of the calamities which nature would hold for the world in this period:

When the testimony of the Elders (missionaries) ceases to be given, and the Lord says to them, “Come home; I will now preach my own sermons to the nations of the earth,” all you now know can scarcely be called a preface to the sermon that will be preached with fire and sword, tempests, earthquakes, hail, rain, thunders and lightnings, and fearful destruction. What matters the destruction of a few railway cars? You will hear of magnificent cities, now idolized by the people, sinking in the earth, entombing the inhabitants. The sea will heave itself beyond its bounds, engulfing [sic] mighty cities. Famine will spread over the nations, and nation will rise up against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and states against states, in our own country and in foreign lands; and they will destroy each other, caring not for the blood and lives of their neighbors, of their families, or for their own lives.

Spiritual Preparation is at the Heart of What We Need to Do

This prophecy is very descriptive of what we can all expect to confront us as our mortal journey draws closer to the Second Coming of the Messiah. If we are only thinking about our temporal concerns like having enough food, water, emergency supplies and gear, maybe we're missing the most important component of our preparation.

Perhaps the most critical thing we need to be working on is our spiritual preparation. How can we expect to receive answers to our prayers and the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives if we had made little or no effort to gain an understanding of the Lord’s eternal truths, revealed through the His prophet and apostles in our day? When we’ve made little or no effort to humbly live our lives according to His commandments, continually doing our best to repent of our sins, to learn and live in accordance with His divine eternal truths, exercising faith in Him with personal prayer, on our knees?

Personal Prayer is Essential: If We Don’t Talk to Him, He is Less Likely to Talk to Us

To receive answers to our prayerful petitions, it is necessary that we need to ask God the Father, in the name of Christ, if these things (or whatever we’re inquiring about) are not true and correct. If we ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He will confirm the truth of whatever we have ask Him about. If we are not in the habit of offering our morning and evening personal prayers to Him, expressing the things we’re grateful for as well as the righteous desires of our heart, it may feel a bit strange at first. But try! He will hear you.

Maybe you might want to try asking Him if the prophecies in this article are true and correct. For some, that could be a beginning to gain the confidence that He (God the Father) really does hear our prayers and, in His time, will answer them.

Now, it we are accomplishing prayerful petitions for answers to our hearts righteous desires, and yet we continue living our daily path of co-habitation, additions, pornography, and anything that is contrary to our obedience to the Lord’s commandments in the scriptures, regardless of what might be considered acceptable and popular in our day, we may find it difficult to feel, or receive answers to our prayers. If, however, our petitions are focused on a righteous desire to overcome these behaviors, then we're moving in a direction that is likely receive answers, in the Lord's time.

Expect Opposition from the Dark Side (And I’m not talking about Darth Vader here)

Remember the scriptures telling us we can't serve God and mammon. Satan is very real and commands legions of evil spirits that took his side in the War in Heaven while in the ante-mortal spirit world. They were all cast down to the earth, never to have an opportunity to receive a mortal body. Their eternal progress was instantly stopped, or damned as the scriptures say.

So, we have plenty of opposition against us as we decide to do the "Right Thing." In fact, it seems just as we embark on this journey of repentance and re-prioritizing out lives so as to live in obedience to the Lord's commandments, Satan and his legions seem to through multiple complications in our way in an effort to distract us, often causing us to lose our focus on continuing our personal repenting. Sometimes this “opposition” may come from supposed friends, So, be aware of this tactic and change friends if they don’t support your efforts to repent and become obedient to His commandments. Don’t be surprised if you encounter opposition for it is very likely to come upon you as well, but never give up!
