Black-on-Black Crime: White Woman your fear of me is sorely misplaced

Be Very Afraid of white men

America's fear of black men is racist

In 1990, I wrote this article, To Be Young Black and Endangered, because I was incensed at the treatment of black men after Charles Stuart murdered his wife and unborn baby, shot himself, and blamed it on a random black man. I was also angry at my own treatment in stores, on streets and in elevators. I was followed in stores and stopped and pulled out of my car by police. I have never been arrested.

Almost 25 years later, I am still writing stories about the treatment of black men in society, but the difference now is that many more Americans have added their voice to the call for justice because of the murder of young black men such as Trayvon Martin and Mike Brown. However, there is still this misconception among many white people that blacks are more violent and commit more crimes than whites and that is just not true!

It is absolutely impossible for 14% of the population to commit most of the crime in the nation. In fact of the 9.5 million crimes committed in the latest FBI Crime Data, whites committed 69.2% of them and blacks committed 28.4%. Blacks committed 50% of the murders according to the data, and whites committed 48%. Blacks committed 56% of the robberies and whites committed 43%. Those are the only two major categories that blacks lead whites in and if you look at the other data, they are completely explainable.

Let’s look at murders first. We know that 97% of black crime is committed against other blacks. The murder rate may be higher, and as the data shows, young black men between the ages 14 and 30 are dying violently at the rate of twice that of their counterparts. That’s right, black men are killing black men. Now for that pesky robbery statistic, again blacks are the victim of black crime 97% of the time. So, if you look at poverty rates in America from the 1950s to the present, blacks are the poorest people in the country and have been throughout the history of The United States. Robbery rates and poverty rates go hand-in-hand.

With that said, looking at the same crime table, in the category of forcible rape, whites commit 65% of the crimes and blacks commit 32.9%. The same numbers are true for aggravated assault, 63.9-33.6. Whites commit more crimes carrying weapons, sex offenses, domestic offenses, disorderly conduct, drunkenness, and vagrancy. As for the kids, white kids are caught loitering and violating curfew twice that of black kids.

So what does this say, white women you should not be worrying about crossing the street when you see me, you should be worried about that young white kid behind you. He is more likely to kill, rape, rob, or assault you than I am.

So, what is the fear based on? It is based on racism and years of conditioning that teaches whites that black men are violent and ignore their historical violence against people of color or see it as a necessary evil. It is the taming of ‘black barbaric lives’ and it makes murdering African-Americans acceptable.
