Children are Disappearing

Updated on December 17, 2009

Where have all the children gone

I am saddened and angered by the news.  Every day another child is missing, kidnapped, beaten, or killed.  Why are we allowing these things to occur?  Children Protective Services is being lazy, there doesn't seem to be any way to determine who is harmful and who is not.  Men are stealing their children with the blessing of the court system by lying, and mothers are killing their own babies.

I don't know what happened, but it seems to be happening in our generation.  When I was a child I did not watch the news and cable TV did not exist.  I don't know if these things occurred then or not but my impression of childhood was a safe existence.  We would take off to play at the creek, or we would go exploring in the small mountains on our aunt's Wisconsin farm.  Children in today's society can be snatched within steps of the school door, or as they are crossing the street.  Where are the police?  Are they eating their version of a donut or are they looking for someone to do a rolling stop at a stop sign?

I saw a policeman breaking state law by talking on a cell phone in a school zone.  If these are the kinds of men and women who are being counted on to protect our children?  I would like to patrol my neighborhoods and ensure the security of our neighbors' children.

Why do people steal children?  Why do men and women exploit babies and young people?  What kind of sick mind rapes a child or a mentally disabled person?  Who would steal a child, beat them, bury them, hide them in basements?  I don't know why we are not doing more.  Neighborhoods should be policing each other.  We are not oblivious, it is just that society today is so full of fear of getting involved that everyone has turned that part of their lives off.

Please open your hearts and your minds and protect our littlest citizens.  They should be cared for.  They should loved and monitored.  Don't let them out of your sight and don't trust the police to do it.  They have loads to do and there are not enough of them.
