Labor Laws
working in favor of the corporations

We the sheep
oblige and believe
this is all we can be
There's no second thought
No hesitation

Its 2017
Trumps in office
It’s been cold every second
Families facing deportation-
Every moment they wake

Hate crimes rising by the day
Imagine all the kids at night
lying awake-
Wondering if their mother, father, brother or sister
Will be taken away
Damn what a shame…

Spring is well on her way
But ICE is here to stay

7 transgender Women of color murders
in the course of 8 weeks
Some still yet to have an identity
A moment of pause
I tried to write it-
it’s just too heavy to report

Also have you heard of
The House Bills that’s been introduced?
Real quick, I promise you,
Lets glaze over HR 610-
It will begin the defunding process of our public schools
Removing our Nations law in Education
which provides Equal Opportunity in learning for all
HR 785 - Termination of Right to work, no more unionizing.
Imagine our next generation’s teachers and laborers
with no more freedom of collective bargaining.

Oh My God Yes, It’s really happening
HR 83 Begins the mobilizing against sanctuary cities
HR:147, 354, 370, 899, 861, HJR 69
Environmental and Animal Preservation organizations
Facing obliteration,
It’s so silly, you see -
none of these issues will mean a thing
We lose Earth we lose our opportunity to show
Just how resilient we can be
When we support each other through love and unity

Rest in Peace, Sasha Avonna Bell
The woman who led the drive against Michigan
She lost her life in the fight for Clean water for flint.
Misleading, she was found dead in 2016
Before she ever received a decree.
Could I tell you if the water is clean?
No, there are too many different reports,

We know not to trust
The media immediately
Because although ONE in FIVE
of abductions are black men
Majority of the stories the media
allows us to see are only of
Caucasian females of the “upper-class”

They may not be telling us what to think
Whenever we sit around the TV
With our friends and family
But theres no question-
They control our conversation

Planting seeds, so we may
Look upon one another with contempt and superiority.
Young kid’s homeless for being LGBT

America’s CEO writes off years of protesting
Trying every other week to enforce the
Muslim Ban and every type of tyrannical policy.

Fact: America makes up 5% of the worlds population
yet is home to 25% of the worlds prisoners
Welcome to the land of the free

I said welcome to the land of the free
Where people from other countries
come here for liberty
Where Criminal means
Black, Hispanic, Muslim, Immigrant, LGBT

Together we will transform society
This is
the Claymore for peace

Thank you manatita, it was a difficult poem to write but the easiest poem I've written in a long time. This wasn't hard work at all, just pure passion. When we educate ourselves, we cant help but feel restless. There must be something we can do, something has to be done, why is this happening?

"who knows the ways of the lord?" I hear you! We all need a sort of spiritual guidance and healing. Even if it meant identifying with three different religions, we should feel free to explore everything that is a healthy diet for our souls.

Thank you Audrey, it is a risk we take but worth it nonetheless. We must always remember to continue the fight, and to inspire new leaders everyday.

Such terrible times we live in --I had not gone out and protested in a long while--maybe because I felt safe--anyway, I am out there now--as we all should be

I like Ronnie's answer. I would add: Stay wise; remain vigilant! Be like a child. Use the Heart.

About your poem. Written well, but yes, it shows the dark side of human nature. Who knows the ways of the Lord?
