Color Me Black
Black's in America will always be haunted by the color of their skin, because of racist acts, that is no longer hidden. These acts are coming out daily by important people who were elected to make things better for all.
This week Blackface has been a major issue with two well-known politicians in Virginia. Governor John Northam in Virginia in a 1984 yearbook his face was painted black standing beside another person with a Ku Klux Klan hoody on. This caused a lot of converse in Black Communities
Northam prevaricated saying it was not him after democrats asked for him to step down. Governor Northam later admitted to being in the racist photo. Northam made an apology and said he would not resign.
years ago White's Performer painted their faces with shoe polish, greased their faces black in front of white crowds wearing ragged old clothes puffing up their lips betraying themselves as dumb of Blacks.
Al Jolson a Jewish, America singer, a comedian and an actor who performed wearing painted blackface, Jolson said was not a racist but he never thought what African Americans felt. Shirley Temple, Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland all played Blackfaces in movies.
in 2019 and the past has come back to haunt African- American, where whites made fun of blacks profiting from betraying Blacks. Blacks in America will never be free from racist acts because of hate groups and small-minded people with nothing better to do.
Blackface in today's society is not excepted because what it represented, it's showed how Blacks were used and humiliated because of the color of their skin. There are so many others who have used Blackface for entertainment or kidding around making fun of Blacks.
