A Good Day Can Be an Elusive Thing!

It's one of those mood changing things that can happen to anyone. It could be inspired by;

a casual smile from a stranger that makes you smile in turn at them,

or by just stopping for a moment and watching something as simple as an Ant crossing in front of your feet, making you wonder where it might be going.

AN Old Man and Old Habits

Honestly, far too often I have to slow down and tell myself; Enough worrying and complaining!

I tell myself; Look around, you old Fool and enjoy what you have right here, in front of you, right now.

Take the time to put those nuisance things in your head that you call problems aside for a moment.

We all know that it’s really easy to get caught up in the vagaries of your daily life where far too often you lose your perspective on what is important in your life versus what isn't.

I tend to be like a bee at times. I’ll have something go bad, often just a small thing really, and my brain will hover over this thing like a bee does over a freshly opened flower. And my brain will spin up and build this (originally small) thing up until it becomes a monster, consuming me from the inside.

My heart will race, my blood pressure will spiral up and I will turn myself into an Ogre with a need to devour this problem before it grows into something larger. in fact, in my head it’s often as if the world will end unless I fix this silly problem.

Some will say, with age comes wisdom; and this is true, even for me. I have learned that if I keep the original problem in perspective, and remain objective about it, then it will turn into just another little bump in the road of my life.

I Savor My Good Days!

And, I can handle a little bump just fine.

I have evolved, my perspective on life, to where I am now able to concentrate on more simple tasks such as; Just Having a Good Day.

A Good Day is one where I can slow down and see things in my life for what they are, opportunities to smile and not problems that make me frown.

A Good Day is one that allows me to smile …. a lot.

A Good Day is one where I can appreciate the beauty of the Natural World around me; the waving Palm Trees, the sleeping Alligators, and the bugs along with the bug eaters.

A Good Day is one where I can enjoy the company fo all of the people around me, even; the silly ones, the aloof ones, and the serious ones.

A Good Day is one where I can go to bed each night, tired from the days tasks or fun; and smiling over all of the Joy in my life that each happy moment gave me.

Heck, A Good Day to me is one when I walk outside and the Florida Sun suddenly bakes down on me, reminding me suddenly that I am just another weak physical being who is temporarily using this planet of ours.

A Good Day is one when I talk to my Kids, my grandchildren, my brother, my Sister and other family members that I haven't heard from in a while.

And a Good Day can be just taking a moment and sharing a Sunset with my wife.

And, guess what?

I’m Having another Good Day, Today!
